There must've been over a 100 wars and conflicts that fully or partially take place in the Balkans for a variety of reasons in history. Because of the nationalistic instability of the Balkans, even so much it could cause World War 3, it has been dubbed one of the most dangerous regions in the world, and certianlly the most dangerous one in Europe. I'm from the Balkans and unless you go to some places like run down ghettos, the countries there have some of the most beautiful scenery in the world, and would make a great tourism destination if it wasn't for nationalism, seperatism or other reasons. It depends which nation a person comes from, and it depends to which country you go. If your an American and go to Serbia, you will probably get murdered, while if you go to Albania, they love you so much they'll throw flowers at you, thank you, want to be your friend, and kiss you.

The two have been disputing for a long time, especially over two unrecognized countries that claim independence from Georgia that Russia recognizes. A third example is Turkey and Cyprus. Northern Cyprus is yet another unrecognized country that is only recognized by Turkey and is disputed with Cyprus.

This is impossible to answer, as the population cannot be projected for a long time towards the future and the population cannot be calculated for a long time in the past. Europe's population was obviously the lowest at 0 before mankind even existed. In the future, it is truly impossible to predict population far into the future without using the statistics of today. For example, Europe's population is expected to decline as the birth rate is dropping and there are large waves of emigration in Eastern Europe. However, Europe could have a comeback in a couple of years or could be far, far worse. What's to say that in five years, the birth rate of Europe won't be ten times the size of what it is today? Or what's to say a nuclear war won't break out in the next decade, wiping over half of the population of Europe off the map (and probably the world)? See, there are just so many possible outcomes and predications that it is impossible to tell the future population.

Today, Europe's population is about 750,000,000 and is the third most populous continent. It's population growth rate is at about -0.5%, the lowest of any continent. However, the fourth most populous continent, North America, has a population of about 550,000,000 and a population growth rate of about 1%. So it looks like Europe won't be surpassed anytime soon, as far as current predictions stand.
