I don't know what relationship you have with your twin brothers, but perhaps you could talk to them. They may be of some help or not. At least you would have an answer. You can't second-guess someone else and you don't know for sure whether your brother's friend knows you exist or not. If you really like this friend of your brothers either talk to your brothers, or, ask this friend of theirs out on a date.

give him/her time to reevaluate his feeling. it may take some time before she/he can forgive you but believe me the day will come. just don't give up on him/her for the sake of your friendship

As stated, it really doesn't mean anything. It is a person asking if they would die for you. If the statement was I would take a bullet for you then it would be them stating how much they cared about you. Most likely an over statement, but still expressing their love for you. They could be wanting you to tell them that you know how much they love you without them having to say it. Asking you the question so that you will answer for them.

Depending on your reason or intentions on why you want to get close to that particular person. If you're shy, and using a mutual friend to help bridge that connection, I don't see a problem. If you're deceitful, and want to get close to someone who doesn't want to get close to you, or you have 'less-than-positive' reasons to want to get close, then I say no.
