Canada geese have in the last few decades become non migratory in many areas, choosing to rather stay put and raise their young, and have become a nuisance in many areas. As a migratory waterfowl species, they are protected by laws that outlaw hunting them except during set seasons. A few around usually causes few problems, but a large flock can be very detrimental to areas where there is a small water source and many homes or businesses. Goose droppings are a problem when large groups of these birds congregate, and the birds themselves can cause problems such as wandering into traffic. Some people use firecrackers to scare them away, and others use dogs such as labs to frighten them off. Please do not use these tactics however when they have young that cannot fly, wait til the babies are able to fly with their parents.
At large bodies of water they tend to be less of a problem, and can add to the wild beauty of the lakes and rivers. They are wild birds, and feeding them can make them dependent on you, plus it is against the law in most areas to do so for that very reason.
There are companies that will help you in your efforts to relocate your geese in a way as to not harm them in any way, and it would be better for the geese too, to live wild as they were intended rather than become semi domesticated.
