How fast do goldfish grow?

Goldfish can get VERY big. Actually, they naturally never stop growing. They can even get up to 3 feet. You may find this hard to believe, but this is because most goldfish's growths are stunted because of small tanks. Sometimes they adapt to the tank size and only grow if put in a bigger tank but this is rare. If a goldfish is given a healthy, natural life, they will continue to live and grow. The record for oldest fish is about 49 years.

The person above me is very right. Goldfish usually don't reach their full length because they die (cuz of small tanks, over feeding, and any other abuse) before they can. They never stop growing but their growing starts to slow down after a while. That's why it's 20 gallons for one goldfish and another 10 gallons for additional goldfish (3 large fancy goldfish in a 50 gal).

The two people above me are partially right. There is no record of any goldfish reaching 3 feet, only koi can attain a length that big. Goldfish are also capable of growing to their adult size (12 - 14 inches) in a 10 gallon tank as long as you keep the tank clean, warm and you put the goldfish on a varied diet. Although, since goldfish can grow big and produce a lot of waste, it is best that you move them to a bigger tank once they grow-out their old one.

According to experts, an ordinary or common goldfish will grow up to 26 inches while koi carps will grow and weigh up to 90 lbs.

REALLY REALLY BIG, of course depending on the tank size, if put in a big tank they can reach the size of a koi

They can live to the age of 45 if in clean conditions. They can get as large as 10'', but if they have descendants of a large fish such as a koi it can grow as large as a koi. The goldfish also grows with the tank as you give it bigger ones. I have a comet goldfish who is half that has lots of koi in him and a little bit of goldfish,he is 2 years old.
It will grow to the size of the tank you might have you see the big gold fish in the shop what r about 5-7 ich long

Is goldfish scared of human?

I don't know if goldfish (or any species of fish) actually feals fear as we do (as in anticipation) but they certainly do have an immediate response to any kind of threat. They hide and know how to take cover from above attack from birds etc they also know when and how to hide in plants, branches, holes etc when being hunted by predatory fish too. So to answer your question. I would say goldfish are afraid of attack both from the air and in the water by any kind of predator that would like to eat them.

How do you keep the temperature of tropical fish water?

You should have a thermostatically controlled aquarium heater, and a good thermometer to monitor the temperature.

Although they are sold, don't use the type of thermometer that you stick to the glass; that doesn't give you an accurate temperature. Use one that goes in the tank itself.

For tropical fish, I have had the best success with the temperature about 75-78 degrees F.

Should a Betta fish be going up to the top of the fish bowl to get air?

Yes, bettas should go to the surface for air. They are air breathers. They have an organ, the lybrinth, that is very lung like. They breath in air from the surface. Their gills do not work like other fish. If they can not get to the surface for air, they die. Of corse yes their gills are different from other fish so that is why a Betta fish has to be going up to the surface to get air or else they die.

Do goldfish need oxygen?

Yes, like all animals, goldfish need oxygen. They get it through their gills from the water they swim in .

Air should be provided to an aquarium via a small pump. This helps to remove gasses from the water that might build up and provides oxygen that will dissolve into the water. It also helps keep the tank clean.

What is a neko?

Neko means "cat" in Japanese... the word is rooted in Japanese history, culture, language, manga and anime: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kMvGj2R_dQI

Over the past decade, the use of this word has been evolving and adapting to imply a global "catgirl" phenomenon -- namely humans "dressing up cat" in real life. Evidence of this can be found in Japanese cosplay http://www.jbox.com/PRODUCT/NET067, European catgirl forums such as http://www.catgirls.org.uk/ and virtual online communities as depicted on the blog Virtual Neko in Second Life: http://virtualneko.com

Related words:

Bakeneko: a character from historical folklore, a "ghost cat" with supernatural abilities

Nekomimi: the Japanese term for catgirls, literally meaning "cat ears." A catgirl is a person who dresses up (in real life, or in online virtual communities) with ears, a tail, and sometimes additional accoutrements such as paw gloves and boots.

Nekomusume: this sometimes also applies to catgirls (though less often), and literally means "cat daughter."
