goldfish have something in them called a swim bladder that expands when they want to go up and inflates when they want to go down but no matter if they float up or down they have to paddle with there fins to move.

That depends on how dirty the tank is and what kind of 'dirt' is in the tank. It also depends on what species the fish are and how baby(tiny) they are. If the dirt is algae, then I'd simply scrape it off the glass and syphon the muck out if neccessary. I'd be very carefull that the fry would not be sucked up the syphon tube. If the tank was foul and putrid I'd remove/net or syphon the fish out and strip the tank down for a scrubbing.

Goldfish grow constantly until they die. As far as length of the fish is concerned they commonly grow to 10 or 12 inches but have been known to grow much larger than that. (around 24 inches)

Take it out immediately. Uneaten fish food will decompose rapidly and foul the water. As the decomposes, Ammonia and Nitrite are produced in the aquarium water. These chemicals are deadly to all fish, (some more than others). Also, if your fish is constantly not eating, there is a problem. Most commonly, the water is fouled (that pesky ammonia and nitrite again), or the wrong food is being offered, or the fish is suffering from aggression from other tank mates, or disease, i.e. white spots, red streaks in the fins, white slim covering, red inflammed gills, etc.

Well I'm no animal expert but I have had 2 goldfish for the last 5 years (It's record, all my friends ones died after a week or a month) and mine always get still when I change the water, late at night (I guess that's their form of sleep), and when I forget to feed them for day or 2. ;)

No. They require totally different conditions. Goldfish are cold water fish and should not be kept in water above 70F. Plecostomus sp come from the tropics and should be kept in water above 75F. If you keep them together one or the other will be in conditions that do not suit it so it will probably sicken and die.

Get a net, or fill up the container/bowl where you're putting your fish while you clean the tank, and try to use your hands to pick them up. I've done that a few times. Or try scooping them up into the container/bowl when you're getting the water..
