No, but if the water gets too cold you might suggest heating it up, but not too hot because most goldfish don't liike hot water.

Goldfish are complex creatures that have quite specific needs. They need a large proper fish tank, with a good filter (like a canister) rated for double the volume of the tank, and have regular weekly partial water changes. They are very messy, long living (should live at least 15 years) and very large growing. Fancy Goldfish get between 6"-10", Commons/Comets around 10"-12", that's excluding the tail!
People who keep Goldfish in unfiltered bowls or vases, or even very small fish tanks, are doing it wrong and it's tantamount to animal cruelty.
Fancy Goldfish need at least 20 US gallons each, the larger and more active Commons/Comets need at least 55 US gallons, but are better in an established pond over 600 US gallons. The two varieties, Fancy and Common, should not be mixed.
Vases are for flowers, not fish. :)

Fish do not hear in the same way as us. If you closely observe the sides of a fish you will see what seems to be a dotted line running from behind the fishes gills all the way along the fishes body down to the tail. (some fish have two of these lines) This line is called a "Lateral Line" It consists of tiny nerve endings that are very sensitive to many things including vibrations. Sound is simply vibration so this "Lateral LIne" is what a fish uses to hear things instead of ears.
