How do you deal with fish and fish products that are not fit for use?

If a fish is dead i would flush it down the toilet. If a fish product is unusible than i would take it back to the store to see if i could get my money back. also most petstores have guarantees on their pets so if your fish died within a certain amount of time they might replace it for you

Is it normal for your Oscar to lay at the bottom of the tank if you just got him today and he is in a 55 gallon tank with great filtration and aeration?

Check the Ph of the water, which will require a Ph test kit from the tropical fish store. Also, did you dechlorinate the water? Did you allow the water in the bag to adjust to the water temperature in the tank before you let the Oscar out? Do you have a water heater, and is the water temperature at least 78 degrees?

It sounds like your fish is in shock. There are a number of things which can cause this, including those I have listed. If all of the above have been dealt with, ask the dealer what might be wrong.

Is it ok to put sea shells into a goldfish bowl?

Firstly, hopefully you do not have goldfish in the 'goldfish bowl' as they need at least 20 gallons for one goldfish.

That being said, you can add sea shells to a tank provided that you have washed the shells clean with one part bleach to 19 parts water (1 cup of bleach to 19 cups of water), rinsed the shells very well in water, then soaked it in treated water (water that you have added Prime or Amquel to for example) before adding them to your tank.

How long do little fish last in a house?

It is impossible to say because it depends on many things. Different little fishes live for different lengths of time and require different sets of conditions.

Can a Black moor goldfish live in a 20 gallon tank?

Yes, you can have one goldfish in a 20 gallon tank, but no other tank mates, not even a snail.
You still need to make sure you have a filter, and that you do regular weekly water changes as goldfish produce a high amount of waste.

Do you defrost fish food before feeding?

Yes it is best to defrost the food before feeding to goldfish, or fish in general, it's easier for the fish to eat it and they will not become "chilled" by eating the food if it is already defrosted.

Why do fish die so early when you get them?

If your fish are dying soon after you buy them, it's probably due either to incorrectly acclimatising them, or else water quality. When you buy fish, you should float the bag of fish in your tank for at least ten minutes so the water in the bag becomes the same temperature as the water in the tank. Then open the bag and mix a little of the tank water with the water in the bag. Do this three or four more times over half an hour or so. This adjusts the fish to the pH and hardness of the water in your tank. Then net the fish and put them in your tank. If the fish are dying and it's a new tank, it's probably not cycled. This website: www.fishforums.net has a new to the hobby section with lots of pinned topics on cycling. If you were told to let your tank sit for a few days/weeks running to cycle it, given a bottled product to cycle it, or not told about cycling, you have been given incorrect advice. Check out the pinned topics; they will help you a lot.

What if your goldfish seems to be trying to mate with your black Mollie is that possible?

Goldfish are cold water fish and should not be kept in an aquarium with a tropical molly. There is no way they can cross breed. Fish are not stupid and do know the difference between one of their own species and a species that should not be in there with them. It is quite possible the goldfish will eventually kill the molly. Failing that, if your tank is not heated, the Molly will probably die during the winter if the temperature gets below 65F for too long anyway.

Your fish eggs are hatching how long before you feed them?

once their "food sacs" are gone you should probably start feeding them one or 2 day later

So your goldfish fin is bitten off well that's fine just pay more attention to him or her when shes eating and what her actions are don't worry but maybe you might want to separate her or him to another tank well he might have a 10% of dieing

Can you mix red capped orandas with fantail goldfish.why do they chase each other and seem like they are sucking each others tails?

Yes you can mix them (they are all the same species) but in spring/summer time they will do what you are observing and that is cross breeding. The chasing, and nibbling is all part of goldfish spawning behaviour.
