My fish have been in the same tank for about 18 months then I added some smaller comets about 4 months Why are the goldfish eating the fantails tail How can I stop them eating their tails?

My friend had the same problem. Her dad thinks (and we think) that the tails on the fantail are small and colorful, and so they look like goldfish food.

Hope this helps!

What fish can live in still tanks?

the only fish that i can think of is a Betta (Siamese fighting fish) because they are usually kept in a 1 gallon fish tank although i don't advise that i would suggest around 4 gallons or more but from what i read they prefer to be without a filter because their long fins tend to pull them with the current and its okay to be in still water because they live in salt patties in the wild.

Why if you look at my goldfish you see his bones?

If your goldfishes bones are sticking out and you can see its skeleton, then you should have your backside kicked for starving the poor thing. Goldfish should be kept properly and given due respect as living creatures. There are a few basic priciples that all fish keepers (aquarists) live by no matter what species of fish they keep. These principles (rules) are. "1 inch of fish needs a minimum of 1 gallon of water" "Every aquarium containing living creatures needs a cycled filter to remove toxins" "every aquarium needs to have at least 50% of its water changed weekly". There is plenty of food available for Goldfish at pet shops that is cheap and designed specially for them. Most fish (including Goldfish) get particularly hungry morning and evening so they should be fed at those times. In other words feed them at least twice daily. A small pinch of food may be enough for one tiny goldfish but if it is eaten quickly, give the fish as much as it will eat in 15 minutes. If there is any food left uneaten after 15 minutes, syphon it out so that it will not rot in the tank and poison the water. With luck your fish will put weight on and start to look good and not half starved.

Can an Oscar fish live in a ten gallon tank?

A small oscar can live in a 10 gallon for a short period of time. However, oscars are fast growers and can reach lengths larger than a foot so a larger tank would be required soon.

How does a goldfish grow as a size of a foot when in seawater and still the same size when in a bowl?

Goldfish release growth-inhibiting hormones into the water they live in: the more goldfish in a smaller space, the less likely they are to grow. For instance, if I have a common goldfish in a 5 gallon tank, it will grow to about the same size if I had 6 of the same fish in a 30 gallon tank. But leave that fish alone in a 30 gallon tank, and it will grow larger. This is why pond goldfish grow bigger.

But goldfish won't grow at all in seawater; they aren't saltwater fish.

Why would a fish keep swimming directly into the corner of the tank if it has been swimming very quickly up ans down the corner for about three days?

THE GLASS AT THE CORNERS CREATE A MIRRORED EFFECT BECAUSE ITS BEVELED SO THEY MAY THINK THEY SEE ANOTHER ONE OF THERE KIND. FISH ONLY HAVE A 3 SECOND MEMORY SPAN.

----------

Answer:

Fish DO NOT have a 3 second memory span. There's no way they'd survive in the wild if they did. Any1 who's every owned fish and actually interacted with them can tell you they remember a lot longer than that. They are especially good at recognizing their owner and each other.

People just say that so they don't feel bad about abusing their fish.

Will new fish die if you only wait about 4 hours to put them in the tank?

Yes, very likely. The ammonia levels will be through the roof. Depending on the size of the tank, you should wait a minimum of 4 days before putting fish in a new tank and even then, you should put one or two fish in then wait 2 days and put another 2 fish in.

Why does goldfish's eyes fall?

It can be caused by a disease called pop-eye. It usually happens when you don't have filter. When you don't have filter and you usually clean the water out everyday, your fish can get stress and trauma from all that changing water everyday and stress and trauma causes pop-eye. Or it could be that you have two goldfishes and one of your goldfishes had been playing around with the other goldfish's eye which caused it to fall.

How do you change a normal tank into a marine tank?

During the Vietnam War the standard US Army M48A3 90mm gun Patton tank utilized white lettering. US Marine Corps M48s used yellow lettering. Example: the US Army tank would have "US Army then its serial number" in white letters stenciled across its sponson boxes, while the US Marine tank would have, "USMC" in yellow stenciled across its boxes.

Note: The sponson boxes were constructed of sheet metal and welded/bolted to the sides of the tank on each side on the fender; they held tools, etc.

What do goldfish babies look like?

A baby goldfish (just hatched) is very tiny and can be hard to see. They look like little tadpoles. They will have a yolk sack over the face and will slowly digest it. once completely eaten it is a good idea to feed your babies baby fish food, like 'Small Fry'. For a while these babies will not have fins but as they get bigger you will be able to see the fins grow. The growth period is pretty long

A goldfish's color responds to light, and does not depend on age. If a fish is kept in the dark it will get lighter, losing much of its color over time. For a true gold or simply your fish's brightest, healthiest color I suggest giving it full spectrum light. Diet plays a role in color, shrimp and fish meal will also help bring out a goldfish's color. Also, genetic variation can lead to goldfish of many different colors.

Baby goldfish look like very tiny mosquito larvae for a little while, but slowly begin to take on their goldfish forms. In order to even see their fins, you would need a magnifying glass until they are much bigger

Can boy goldfish and girl goldfish be together with babies?

You can but you should not they fight and you can not put 2 fish in 1 tank, if you have an aquarium try it out see what happens. Every morning feed your fish sepratkey 1 piece of food each, make sure the other does not get the other fish's food or it'll die. Pretty soon the babies will come but they all have to be in seprate tanks sometimes the little one can visit its parents for 4 mins. Then put him somewhere else. Your female may have a baby at 5 years old cause fish only live for 10 years. To also answer your question no they can not be together unless they know each other
