Honduras is located in Central America. It borders the Caribbean Sea, between Guatemala and Nicaragua. Honduras also borders the Gulf of Fonseca, between El Salvador and Nicaragua.

The nation that lies between Honduras and Costa Rica is Nicaragua. Nicaragua is also the largest country in Central America. Its capital city is Managua.

Although you can hardly compare them to the Rockies, Andes, or Himalayas, Honduran topography is generally so mountainous, the capital of Tegucigalpa is not built like a traditional Spanish city like other capitals in Latin America, since the terrain simply did not allow for it. Like cities in Spain, and the Arab world, most Latin American cities follow a city plan that dates all the way back to ancient Babylon; where the city, would be built around a central plaza that had a sort of garden in it, and said plaza, would have the city's temple, or, in the Arab world's case a Mosque, in Spain and Latin America's case, a Catholic cathedral. Tegucigalpa has no "central plaza" in the true sense of the word to speak of as a result. Not only that, most of the country is in fact an extremely dangerous jungle, so dangerous, that American special forces soldiers simply LOVE it. They love to train there, that is why, even though the pressence is relatively minimal now, for all intents and purposes Honduras appears to have a permanent U.S. military pressence. There are also a lot of CIA dogs there by the way, who use the country's prisons for torture to extract information from people. Hey, as a kid I heard stories..... In fact, it would not surprise me if some of our good friends the Arabs, captured by the CIA, were held in Honduran prisons at nondescript locations somewhere in those jungles. Trust me on this, and I say this as a former cub scout, even if they escaped, they would not make it to a town or city. They would likely get eaten by a jaguar, viciously assaulted by monkeys, or, bitten by a very dangerous viper nicnamed "barba amarilla" (yellow beard) whose poison will kill a man in the space of two hours. Not just Honduras; Central America has some of the most dangerous jungles in the world. When I asked my troop leader, a boy scout leader in his 20's, why we only camped in pine forests just outside the capital, and not the jungles, he told me all about it, he said, the jungles were too dangerous for kids our age, most of us were int he 2nd or 3rd grade. Most of the country, is a mountanous, sweltering jungle, where travel is extremely difficult, and extremely hazardous, even today, in fact, to get to some of the remote towns, you have to travel there by foot, after getting off the bus in a dirt road somewhere, well, by foot or burro (donkey) if one is available.

North America

1. It is said that on Christopher Columbus' last voyage to America he exclaimed: 'Thank God, we are safely out of these depths!' when he came across the offshore islands of Honduras. In Spanish Honduras means depths, giving the country it's name, or so the story goes.

Corn, coffee, bananas and many familiar fruits and vegetables like tomatoes and bell peppers are grown in Honduras. Tropical fruits like lychees, passionfruit, star fruit and nances are plentiful. Many families keep chickens and cows and cattle are also raised on large ranches. Shrimp are raised in plantations in the Golfo de Fonseca and many fish and shellfish, including conch, are found in the waters of the north coast.

Yes, i have been to both and in Honduras is way too small and does not take your breath away like Mexico did. Mexico is much more modern and yet has its traditional ways. Honduras is currently having a big problem with AIDS.

Depending on the climate or environmental conditions, people have to adapt to live and work. For instance, northern states are quite arid and water is scarce, while central Mexico is temperate but hilly. Southern Mexico is quite humid and hot. Therefore, things such as agriculture, crops, clothing and the way homes are built depend a lot on what kind of local environment exists.
