The best way to rid your yard of insects is to provide a bird-friendly habitat. Put in a feeder in winter. Put out a bird-bath in summer. Provide shrubs & trees favorable to birds. They eat many many insects, as do frogs.

You can buy from pool shops some stuff to put in the pool water which puts a coating on the top layer of the water and it starves the little bugs of oxygen.

I owned and operated a pool service company for many years. I found that if you squirt a tablespoon or so a month of a quality dish soap(ie dawn, palmolive...), not a dishwasher detergent, the bugs are not able to float on the water and other submersed water bugs are not able to breathe in the water. The soap has many side effects such as helps to break down body and taining oils so they can be filtered out. You can expect your pool chemicals to not fluctuate as much and in some cases use less chlorine or bromine. Enjoy!!

A person can use diatomaceous earth to kill red mites. This is harmful to insects, but not pets or children.

There are several Families of dragonflies. If you are looking for the commonly used general classification name for them, the Order name for dragonflies and damselflies is Odonata. Maggots eat anything not moving or that is dead.

I don't own a lizard, but from my experiences with carnivorous pets and my research, I would feed him alive insects. Mainly crickets, moths, and meal worms. I'm not too sure if he'd eat dead ones... :)

horseshoe crabs do indeed have blue blood, this is because the protein that carries oxygen in their blood is haemocyanin. This protein is a pigment like the haemoglobin in our blood, but instead of using iron to carry the oxygen it uses copper. When iron is oxidised it goes red (hence our red blood) and when copper is oxidised it goes greeny blue (hence the blue blood).

All those animals that have haemocyanin as the respiratory pigment have their blood blue when oxygenated. Haemocyanin is the respiratory pigment akin to haemoglobin but hemocyanin has copper as the cofactor instead of iron which you find in haemoglobin.

Animals belonging to class crustacea and those belonging to phylum Mollusca have hemocyanin, and hence they have blue blood.

The Giant Water Bug can be dangerous if stepped on or handled. No grasshoppers hop that's why it has the word hopper.

It is true they hop but the majority also fly some have wings and still only hop but their wings greatly add to the hoop witch looks allot like gliding. So the statement that they only hop is like saying earth is made of watter witch is true but not accurate.

Lice do not have wings but they do have legs which make them jump rapidly in your hair.They do not harm dogs,but there is a type of dog lice which is hard to get rid of if its a long haired you might be willing to shave it off.Most dogs flea shampoo don't have that covered/checked.Some are checked as you see but it doesn't put the most part comfortable.they don't have it for any other animal I'm guessing.To add to this IMPORTANT information lice is very dangerous.Heres a reminder: DO NOT I MEAN DO NOT TOUCH HEADS IF YOU HAVE LICE OR IF YOUR HEADS ITCHY.You might never know if you might have a living thing crawling in your hair.
