Mining

Mining for coal is something that is widely known, but did you know that diamonds, uranium, copper, and other non-renewable natural resources are also mined? There are two types of mining; surface and subsurface. Questions about the methods and types of mining, what ores are mined, and related questions should be asked in this category.

What mineral property can be used to distinguish between pyrite and chalco pyrite?

Pyrite also known as "fool's gold" is a mineral that has both a different chemical, morphological and physical characteristics than gold. Gold is denser (i.e. the same size of gold is much heavier than the that of pyrite). Gold's average density is 17.64 g/cm3 while Pyrite's density is on average 5.01 g/cm3.

The chemical formulas are different. Gold's chemical formula is "Au" while Pyrite's is and iron sulfate mineral with a formula of "FeS2".

The color is also different, gold appears the color of gold while pyrite is more bronze in color.

The crystallographic form of the minerals also vary.

Gold is a very soft mineral while Pyrite is much harder (gold has a hardness of 2.5 while Pyrite is 6.5). To distinguish between a sample of each, you could scratch the surface of gold using your fingernail which you would not be able to do with pyrite.

You can try to scratch it because pyrite or fools gold much harder then gold so if it doesn't scratch that much it is most likely pyrite or fools gold.

You can tell them apart by looking at their reflection and streak. Also, gold is much more dense than pyrite, so the same volume would 'weigh' about 3.5 times more. Gold has a hardness of about 2.5, while pyrite is about 6 (Gold is softer and more malable).

Streak is used to distinguish between Gold and Pyrite.

Where is Tanzanite mined?

Tanzanite can only be founded in Africa's Rift Valley. It is about 25 miles from Mt. Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, in an area called Marerani. There are four actively mined tanzanite blocks labeled A-D. A and C block are reserved for foreign investment, while B and D can mine mined by locals.

Gingerbread2480-

I believe you are wrong, according to the information I have gathered Tanzanite is in fact mined in the Merelanihills.

What are the 3 minerals mined in Canada?

There are many types of minerals which are mined in Canada. Four of them are iron, salt, gold, and sulphur.

What was a coal miners life like?

The life of a miner is very dangerous. If one thing goes wrong all the rocks that the miners have put to the side while mining can come crashing down and kill the miners. Also life as miner is very dangerous because when u blow up a wall so u can get past it you have to make sure everyone is a safe distance away and u also have to make sure u set the bomb up right so nothing goes wrong and no one gets hurt. Most miner employers don't care about their workers and the working conditions so the environment itself is bad.

What is density of bentonite powder?

It depends a bit on how well compacted the powder is but a common number for uncompacted powder would be 0.8 g/cm³.

Where do you find minerals?

Any rock contains minerals. So does all food. If you are looking for minerals, rocks and mineral specimens, you can find them everywhere in nature.

How is bauxite found?

Bauxite is usually mined from shallow surface deposits, the largest of which are found in Australia, China, Brazil, Guinea, and Jamaica. Finding the mineral is usually done by ground exploration (by industry and governments) in likely locations, such as rain forests. There are several types of rock and clay formations that indicate the likely presence of the ore.

How do you clean iron pyrite?

Gold won't dissolve in acid wheras pyrite will. That 'separates' them - but not too useful if its not the gold you want or you want both. If telling them apart is what you want then their density is different, their structure is different (crystalline mineral - pyrite) and their hardness is different.

What is potash?

Potash is the common name given to any water-soluble salt of Potassium(K). It can be:-
Potassium Carbonate - K2CO3
Potassium Hydroxide - KOH
Potassium Chloride - KCl
Potassium Nitrate - KNO3
etc. See the link below for more information

How can fossils be used to determine the relative ages?

They are able to tell the order in which events occured, NOT how long ago they occured.

Identify the order in whicih rock units formed(:rocks makes babys with apenis

What affects does mining have on the landscape and farming land near the mining site?

something that affects the land by mining is that when you mine you tale minerals out of the earth and the earth needs minerals to survive

Where are most quartz found?

Quartz, being one of the most abundant rock forming minerals, is probably found in all states and in all countries. Most sand is comprised of small grains of quartz.

Name three properties of minerals?

There are many properties of minerals. Some of these include color, streak, odor, hardness, tenacity, taste, as well as specific gravity.

How do you get the kreludan mining corp code?

There is no code. Chances are it was meant to be a project but Neopets never got round to sorting it or it was a future project for us to unlocked that was never finished. Or maybe even its a thing they are planning for the future (probley not). But your not alone, the Kreludan Mining Corp had been confusing neo users from the moment it arrived. I know it is stressful :/ I want to get in myself.

Is there a code to get into the Kreludan Mining Corp in neopets?

Any code that you put in will be incorrect. I used to work for neopets and there is no code. We put it there as a mere decoration
I'm not sure whats behind it... but, I believe that in the lost desert plot you need to get past the robot to get something needed in the quest... and you get the code from a fortune teller, who I don't know where is now! She says: Today's lottery number is: then she gives an 8-digit number. The lottery only has 6-digit numbers, so... just about the only thing that involves an 8-digit code is the Kreludan Mining Corp. Its different for everyone, I believe. I think the lost desert plot is over now and I think the fortune teller is gone so I believe it's impossible to find now.

What are the physical properties of a mineral?

Boiling Point, Melting Point, brittle, dull,

Any change that can be seen

Is a mineral a type of rock?

mineral is a naturally occurring solid chemical substance formed through biogeochemical processes, having characteristic chemical composition, highly ordered atomic structure, and specific physical properties. By comparison, a rock is an aggregate of minerals and/or mineraloids and does not have a specific chemical composition. Minerals range in composition from pure elements and simple salts to very complex silicates with thousands of known forms.[1] The study of minerals is called mineralogy.

Three ways in which sedimentary rocks differ from other rocks?

Sedimentary rocks are made up of materials that were once part of another rock. Most sediments are deposited on ocean floors or at the bottom of rivers and lakes.Clastic sedimentary rocks form from layers of sediments. Pressure causes the water around the sediments to be squeezed out and the sediments are cemented together.
