Rodents

All rodents have one upper jaw and one lower jaw set of two continuously growing front teeth that must be worn down by gnawing. The order's smallest members are the 2.4 inch/6 centimeter African pygmy mouse and Baluchistan pygmy jerboa. Questions typically refer to the order's laboratory contributions to scientific advances, important representatives, geographic ranges, and environmental roles in seed dispersion and soil food web life.

How many types of mazes are there for intelligence testing in rodents?

There are typically two types of mazes used for intelligence testing in rodents: radial arm mazes and Morris water mazes. What should i use for guinea pig bedding?

Use hay! Usually timothy hay is the best kind!

Along with timothy hay another good bedding source is Kiln dried Pine Shavings. BEside being a comfortable way to sleep, it is cheeper than most bedding and guinea pigs don't need to eat it so unlike timothy hay they never have to worry about eating their pee or poo. Because that would be very nasty. Don't ever use Cedar Bedding thought it is bad for guinea pigs and can KILL them :( The cedar bedding is bad because the strong smell can cause respiratory problems.

Guinea pigs can also be kept on wood shavings (not sawdust!) and many companies also sell large bales of shredded cardboard which makes excellent piggy bedding (this is often sold for horses who are allergic to wood shavings and is usually available mail-order)

How do you train a ferret for rodent control?

The ferret is a carnivorous (meat eating) mammal of genus Mustela of the Mustelidae family including the domestic ferret and an endangered species, the Black-footed Ferret. For hundreds of years, the main use of domestic ferrets was for hunting called "ferreting". Ferrets have a long, lean body, with an inquisitive nature, that makes them very well equipped for getting down holes and chasing rodents and rabbits out of their burrows and nests.

For centuries ferrets have been used for rodent, mice and rat extermination and control. Ferrets have a natural instinct to hunt and kill rodents. One time I had a baby rat trapped and showed to my ferret, she immediately grabbed by the back of the neck and killed it in one bite.

  • Just read an account in Farm Show mag where someone as a kid on a farm kept ferrets for rats and rabbits. The description was that his father showed them the animal holes at about 5 mo of age, and most took right to it. He said gentle seeming ferrets would change when going to hunt, that they were sent in pairs, and he kept them in practice out of rabbit season with rats and mice. The rabbits they would flush out and shoot, they seemed to do that with rats outdoors as well, but they seemed able to kill rats, and chase them into holes, especially the smaller females.

Do muskrats attack humans in the water?

I guess so because one is living under my shed! We live about 2 blocks from a lake so maybe it's a little bit lost... a few times a day I see him/her making a mad dash from the yard next door, on one side or the other, into the little space under our shed. Then it turns around and rests there with its head sticking out enjoying the day. It really is cute. I just hope it's not causing any damage...haven't gotten close enough to check out the situation yet.

Does a girl get pregnant even if the sperm of the guy comes out after inserting it in her after sex?

If the boy ejaculates after withdrawing it from the vagina the chances of getting pregnant are much lower, but they are not zero, since there are a few sperm in the pre-ejaculate (precum), and she can get pregnant from this. Also, depending on where the sperm lands when he ejaculates makes a difference. If he were to ejaculate onto her belly or back, some could drip into her vagina and, though not as likely, can still cause pregnancy.
