How do you replace clutch on a suzuku samurai?

Replacing a clutch on any vehicle requires quite a bit of knowledge as well as tools. On the other hand, even if you've never replaced a clutch, the Suzuki Samurai is the perfect vehicle for a beginner to work on. The Samurai is not complicated, it's components are relatively light and are easily accessible. Used and new parts are readily available and the little machines are virtually unstoppable out in the boonies!

In general, the transmission must be removed from the engine. This reveals the clutch and pressure plate. Separating the transmission from the engine block can be accomplished in a couple different ways... some prefer to do the work while under the truck while some prefer to pull the engine/transmission out of the truck and work on the clutch on the bench. Either way works well and is a dirty job :-) To make a full description here would be very lengthy and there would be no photos or drawings to illustrate what is needed.

However... and this is a very big however... a complete factory Suzuki Samurai shop manual is available for not much (how does FREE grab you?) at http:/wwwzperiodzsuzukiinfozperiodzcom This site has a tremendous catalog of Suzuki related information! I recommend every Suzuki owner visit this site and download every manual you can think of that might assist you in the future.

I would also recommend you take a peek at Jim Cambron's Suzuki site at http:/wwwzperiodzacksfaqzperiodzcom An excellent resource for all things Suzuki! Especially helpful is the vacuum hose diagram on Jim's site!

And finally, dance on over to the Zukikrawler's forum and introduce yourself. The guys and gals that live there are Suzuki oriented and super friendly and super helpful. Go to http:/wwwzperiodzzukikrawlerszperiodzcom ... and be prepared for a friendly welcome! Tell them Zukinoobi sent you! :-)

What do samurai's look like?

"Samurai" was a hereditary title, meaning you were born into a samurai family and had no choice about becoming one. If not born samurai it was essentially impossible to become one, as samurai status was something that was given or taken at the will of the local daimyo (lord). And since the title and its associated benefits was considered the highest honour, the title was given to non-samurai families extremely rarely.

When were the Samurai first associated with Japan?

samurai were active in japan as early as the first land owners battled each other for property, as far back as 980 a.d. The exact origin is shrouded in mystery but it is believed they developed from warriors in the 7th Century AD begining with the Taika reform in 646 AD. Emperor Mommu introduced the law whereby 1 in 3-4 adult males were drafted into the national military. These soldiers were required to supply their own weapons, and in return were exempted from duties and taxes.

Who was the first samurai to receive the title of shogun?

Yoritomo (Yoritomo Minamoto) (yōrē'tōmō mēnä'mōtō), 1148-99, Japanese warrior and dictator, founder of the Kamakura shogunate. After a prolonged struggle he led his clan, the Minamoto, to victory over the Taira in 1185. He became (1192) the first shogun, established his bakufu (headquarters) at Kamakura, and rewarded his retainers with estates strategically located throughout the country. These fiefs later became the basis of the power of the daimyo. Aided by scholars drawn from the imperial court, which Yoritomo controlled, he set up an administrative network that soon became the only effective central government. His shogunate marked the beginning of a vigorous period in Japanese history. Zen Buddhism was officially sponsored, and the yoritomo-japanese-military-leader-statesmanvirtues of bushidowere cultivated. Yoritomo's system of centralized feudalism set the pattern of military rule in Japan until the mid-19th cent.

Why are samurai swords curved?

Curved swords are more effective when cutting and slashing while straight swords excel in thrusting. There are actually many swords from different regions of the world that are curved.

It's also because of the forging process: the metalulgy behing the katana means that the blade and the blunt are two differant density steels so when the weapon is immersed in water after the heat of the forge the blunt shrinks whilst the blade doesn't thus creating a curve.

The curved blade of the samurai sword helps in sliding the sword with proper angle. This curve comes from the process of differential quenching. Also the smith coats the blade with several layers of a wet clay slurry.
