How did Abigail Adams help with the revolutionary war?

User Avatar
She wrote letters to her husband, John Adams and helped him with decisions he might have had to make and brought up different issues like womens rights and slavery. Basically she helped John Adams debate and have an input on some issues that concerned her and many others during the revolutionary war. She also made the, 'remember the ladies' symbol as a symbol to women equality. As in doing so, also convinced John Adams (her husband) to include this in the 'new code of laws' which sparked the Revolutionary War. During the Revolutionary war, she also provided food and shelter (housing) for the soldiers. After that, John Adams got sent to England because of the war. Abigail followed. She acted as a hostess for both political and social gatherings.

Can you get sick from giving a child his nebulizer?

User Avatar
No! You cannot get Ashma from giving medications to another. Ashma is a condition that results as an alergic reaction to that around the patient aflicted. The medications do one of two things. They eitherprevent the airway from closing off or attempt to dialate it and shirink the tissues. The latter are quick acting, short lived, aids. Talk to your physician and discuss what is best.

In what ways was Adam Smith 'pro-business'?

User Avatar
Adam Smith was pro-capitalism. Google "Wealth of Nations", a book by Smith which may answer some questions. Adam Smith was an economist who embraced the idea of the "invisible hand" of competition as being the best manner in which to assure the best quality goods at the best prices. Short example, suppose you are the only hat maker in a small town. Your hats are poorly made and over-priced, but you are the only hat maker in town. Suddenly one day another hat maker opens up shop in the town and begins turning out better quality hats than yours, and sells them at a lower price. You now have only two options. You can match his quality and price, or you can go out of business. That is Adam Smith's "invisible hand" of competition at work. What is a lesson to learn from John Adams?

User Avatar
One of the most important lessons we can learn, especially from John Adams, is that there were many, many wives like Abigail Adams who were completely responsible for their family's welfare, homes, farms, businesses and financial support while their husbands were engaged in the development of American government. They were invaluable advisors to their husbands, collected the political news for them and kept them informed through a system of letter writing, all while their husbands were away from home for long periods of time- years at a time. They were given heavy responsibilities, were the backbone of America and yet, their husbands would not even consider giving them equal status as citizens. Another lesson to be learned is that perseverance pays off eventually.

Who is Adam Smith?

User Avatar
Which one? You probably mean the Scottish philosopher/Economist. He is most famous for defining modern economic theory in a book called "Wealth of Nations" See:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adam_Smith_%28disambiguation%29 In a roundabout way (as a result of the aforementioned philosophy/book) he is respensible for booms and busts and all the greed that causes the cycle to go from one to the other!

Did Abigale Adams have an impact on her husband's opinions for the constitution?

User Avatar
Abigail Adams had an influence on every aspect of her hsuband's life from the day the were married until the day that death took her from him and beyond. She also profoundly influenced another future American president, her son John Quincy. If you have any doubt of this, simply go to the Massachusetts State Historical web site and read their letters. You will come away with a new understanding and a considerable respect for this amazing woman. One should also take a new look at the concept of "republican motherhood." All these great men that we speak so highly of as our "founding fathers" all were influenced greatly by the women who raised them. With the possible exception of Alexander Hamilton these men all were raised by great women. And in Hamilton's case, this omission might be the "telling flaw" in his character.
