Can you take strepsils and paracetamol together?

The Australian Poisons Information Line informed me that Paracetamol is okay to take with Amoxycillin-based antibiotics.

(It is also okay to take Paracetemol with Codeine, such as in Panadeine, with the common Co-amoxiclav which contains Amoxycillin with Glauvanic Acid)

There may be some side effects such as upset stomach, nausea and vomiting. Keep your fluids up.

On the NHS website (National Health Service) in the UK it states this:

Sometimes, an infection may cause you pain and discomfort. Although antibiotics will help to clear your infection, they will rarely provide you with any pain relief. You may therefore want to take some kind of painkilling medication (analgesic) to help relieve your symptoms.

Paracetamol is one of the safest painkillers, and rarely causes side effects. It is safe to use paracetamol at the same time as taking antibiotics. Taking the two medicines at the same time should not cause any problems.

However, you must make sure that you carefully follow the dosage instructions provided by the manufacturer for both your antibiotics and the paracetamol. If you're still in significant pain after taking paracetamol, contact your GP.

The only antibiotic which is an exception to this rule is isoniazid. This antibiotic is used to treat tuberculosis (an infection which primarily affects the lungs). A small number of reports suggest that taking this antibiotic with paracetamol may increase the risk of liver damage. You should always consult your GP before taking paracetamol with this antibiotic. Children should never be given paracetamol whilst being treated with isoniazid.

Children who are under 16 years of age should not take aspirin.

How does paracetamol reduce temperature?

What happens when you take 3 500Mg paracetamol?

300-mg (3 100-mg tablets) of paracetamol would not be a lethal overdose for an otherwise healthy adult. Overdosing does not improve the analgesic effect but it does increase the risk of permanent liver damage.

Why has Tylenol been recalled?

Medications such as Childrens Tylenol are generally recalled when some type of defect is found wrong with them. The last recall, which happened in 2010, was due to "Quality" of the medication.

The main reason for the recall was due to higher levels of the active ingredient; Acetaminophen, Non tested inactive ingredients, and non-edible particles.

Can you take triaminic thin strips and Tylenol?

Just read the Triaminic packaging. Tylenol's active ingredient is acetaminophen. If the Triaminic does NOT contain any acetaminophen, then you can safely take them together without double doses.

If Triaminic DOES contain acetaminophen, then try taking Motrin or Ibuprofen 2 hours after the acetaminophen.

Check with your pediatrician! Call their office number and get connected to the after-hours emergency service. A nurse will gladly call you back about medication questions.

Can dogs take Tylenol for cold weather joint pain?

No; dogs are not small humans and do not react to human medications well. Over the counter pain medications for humans, like Tylenol, are actually toxic to dogs and can kill them even in small doses. If you suspect that your dog has arthritis (joint pain), you should take your dog to your veterinarian and he/she can prescribe a pain medication that is safe for your dog to take.

You can also make it easier for your older dog to handle cold weather by providing warm blankets for him/her to lay on or providing heat to his/her resting place through the cold weather. Remember that dogs with long hair coats (German Shepherds, Golden Retrievers, etc.) will tolerate the cold much better than humans while short-coated breeds (like Chihuahuas, Boston Terriers and Boxers) will be more like humans in their reaction to cold weather.

How many tablets of acetaminophen codeine?

The Tylenol is much more toxic than the codeine in the medication. You would die from liver damage before you would die from lack of breathing/heart function and CNS (central nervous system) depression from the codeine. So, follow the protocol for Tylenol toxicity and maximum daily dosage. That is, no more than 4000mg, or 4 grams, of Tylenol when taking the medication short term. In extra strength Tylenol, this equates to 8 tablets. You should never take more than 1000mg, or 1 gram, (2 tablets of extra strength Tylenol) in a 4 hour period.

If you're taking the medication for chronic or long-term treatment (continuously for 2 weeks or more), 2500mg per day is the rule of thumb. Anything over that and you're at risk for liver damage. Alcohol consumption, of course, (as well as intake of several other substances) increases the likelihood of liver damage and lowers the threshold of the amount of Tylenol required to cause liver damage and failure.

Liver failure from Tylenol is not sudden nor immediate. It happens slowly and often unnoticeably before it's too late. I don't think I need to say that getting a liver transplant for a liver that you damaged yourself and avoidably so is very difficult as "supplies" are limited and reserved for those who have a failing liver though no fault of their own.

Is Tylenol codeine 4 stronger than norco 5Mg?

First of all, the "500" on the label IS tylenol, the generic of tylenol actually, acetaminophen. Vicodin will show up as 5/500 etc. The 5 is the dose of the hydrocodone and the 500 is the dose of acetaminophen. SO the answer is NO they are not.
