Is Methadone normally tested for in a drug test?

Any test for opiates will show positive for methadone, which is an opiate. Any drug test worth administering tests for opiates. Therefore...

*************Dead wrong! Unless they test specifically for methadone, it will not show up. Methadone is a narcotic agonist, a different type of drug, while still being an opioid.

NEW RESPONSE I ANSWERED THIS ON THE 29th OF OCTOBER 2009.

I'm not sure who the bone head was that typed in the first response but they are 100% WRONG. The second answer is correct, (I actually should have typed the first answer, since I cannot consider that first response an answer LOL anyhow that is neither here nor there) back to your question....

If the tester is testing specifically for methadone then it will show up yes but you have to be testing for it. Every other drug will show up under its category as opium which would be Oxycontin/percocet, cocaine, benzoids which is things like lorazapam, they are Valiums (downers) there is also a slot for morphine. If you take anything that has codeine in it such as Tylenol #1,2,3 or 4 you will get a positive result for morphine. The reason for this is that your body cannot digest/process straight codeine so it turns itself into morphine first then it is able to digest it. This was news to me as well when my doctor told me, I had no idea!!

Anyhow none of the regular drug slots will show methadone, it has to be specifically tested for. I hope this helps you out. Good luck with your test if you have to take one......

How long does it take for suboxone to get out of your bloodstream?

I've been on suboxone for a good 4 years and on oxy's and all the other good stuff that comes with it for at least 6 yrs. General substance abuse has been part of my life for 15 yrs. It's really not at all so much about physical effects coming off suboxone as it is about the mental adjustments you have to make. Every time I was faced with society and it's expectations I popped a pill to deal with whatever demands. You have to be willing to adjust without anything else replacing that need. Give yourself 5 days where you can reflect on your life and have no forced responsibilities or human interaction. I found it helpful to stay as active as possible (not the first day) but the second, third, etc until your mind is over wanting to reach for some sort of substance to deal with life. Physical effects really are very mild, don't listen to stories about how it's just like coming off hardcore opiates! NOWHERE NEAR IT! The only thing I could feel was constant chills. For the first time in 10 years people don't walk into my apt thinking it's an ice box =) I admit the mental urge is the tricky part. You really have to come to terms that all this rubbish is ruining your body, life and relationships....EVEN SUBOXONE! I wish everyone Good Luck with getting away from it all. Know that after the first couple of days it starts to get easier every day. Another Benefit...having smoked at least a pack of cigs a day while on suboxone, 4 days after I stopped taking them I couldn't stand the taste of cigs anymore.

How many teens die from drug overdose a year?

Many people have died from the use of drug abuse. I know from true experience that many teenagers die because they think they will be alright from the first use and then they can get addicted but that wont effect them but truthfully it will. Many teens die from the use of drugs.

aka TONS OF PEOPLE so....don't do drugs theyre bad 4 u....soz alcohal (spell check???)

I think the girl above was trying to say that many TEENS do die from drugs abuse it is very common, I myself am a teen I am 15 years old and I did drugs at the age of 8 to the age of 12, I wasn't a teen yet but I was close to it, I did it for personal reasons because of my child hood. BUT that's not my point, Thousands maybe millions of teens die everyday from drug abuse, it is not a good thing to do at all, do not ever try drugs because they are addicting and will harm your body in many ways you never thought possible.

Actually, its about 3.8 teens die from drugs every day. Only off by about 1,999,996 dead people. Hey, I am writing a paper on teen drug use, can anyone find the # of teens hospitalized per year due to drug use?

Highly addictive drugs?

Absolutely any drug is psychologically addictive. There are reports of individuals becoming psychologically addicted to drugs that have no capacity for addiction otherwise. With regards to physical addiction, the number of drugs is too large to count. Researching individual drugs is a good idea to find out more. Diamorphine (heroin) and benzoylmethyl ecgonine (cocaine) are two well known examples of addictive illegal drugs.

How long before you can take methadone after suboxone?

From experience I have taken both together. But I am no doctor so you might want to check that out before trying. But methadone blocks the full effects of Oxycontin so it's not fun to take together. If you are trying to get off oxy with the methadone I would say wait about 5 or 6 hours. again i am no doctor so ask one before doing this.

How can you cure alcohol addiction?

THE HARDEST PART ABOUT OVERCOMING an addiction is admitting there is a problem and WANTING to stop. If you want to stop using alcohol, I would suggest attending AA meetings. Look in the phone book white pages and call the local chapter for meeting places and times. Practically EVERY town across the country will have meetings at different times and locations, and it is pretty easy to work a meeting into your schedule. I highly recommend AA (alcoholics anonymous) meetings regularly. Depending on your needs, you can attend a meeting once a week or everyday, if needed. ALSO- if a heavy drinker stops drinking, they should see a health care professional, whether it's your doctor or a local health clinic. They will prescribe something like Librium that will help with the shaky hands and also will help avoid a seizure, which can happen if a heavy drinker stops drinking "cold turkey" (immediately, all at once. I WISH YOU SUCCESS AND GOOD HEALTH!!

Is suboxone an ssri?

According to Suboxone.com (see Related Link below), "certain antidepressants" can interact badly with Suboxone/Subutex. And which antidepressants interact badly may possibly vary from person to person.

Can you take Hydroxyzine while on suboxone?

Hey, I am prescibed both Suboxone and Hydroxyzine both from the same doctor. He obviously thinks its okay to take these two medications together, but then again he also prescribed me Xanax while I was on Suboxone. Personally the only reason I go to this doctor is because he is one of the only places that I can get Suboxone from. Other than for that reason I would never go there. I trust him to a certain extent ,but then again i don't trust him 100%. I have been coming to this site to see if somone has answered this question, but still no answer.

The main reason why I question his judgment on the mixture of these two is because the both can cause respiratory depression

How do you cure ill effects of weed?

If you are experiencing flu like symptoms after using marijuana, there were most likely unwanted/ unnatural chemicals put in the marijuana to change its weight or increase the effects. Marijuana has been known to cause temporary respiratory problems when used in its natural state, the only way to end that is to take a break from smoking, marijuana should only be used in moderation anyway. To make sure your marijuana is clean try to find out who grew it, or grow it yourself. But always obey the law. If you disagree with the law, change it.

Do you need to be an addict to have problems with alcohol or drugs?

No, you don't. Speaking from personal experience, I have had problems with alcohol and drugs without being sure if I was addicted or not. I found it very helpful to seek professional counselling. If you speak to your doctor they can refer you.

If you are concerned about your drug or alcohol use, I would strongly recommend that you speak to someone. You don't have to be addicted to seek help. It may seem difficult to talk about, but it can be much easier to speak to a professional you don't know for impartial advice.

What makes you addicted to drugs?

Basically, the constant use of an addictive drug gets your body used to the presence of said drug. It becomes a normal part of your body, just like the need for water or food. When you take away that "normal part" your body goes into withdrawel due to exposure from the same substance over a long period of time. Its just like taking away any other substance your body needs.

What causes people to get addicted to drugs?

thoughts on causes of addictionThere is an emotional, spiritual, physical pain that generates a big black bottomless hole that seems to devour everything - good, bad or the ugly. It seems at times unquenchable. You want to get out of pain if only for a moment. There is an empty feeling, whether unloved, insecure, moments of failure taunting you, that seem ever present. Distraction seems to be the only thing that satifies, that numbs, that blurs the incredible bone deep ache of not belonging, not feeling good enough, or just not wanting to feel anything.

Most often there is either a genetic predispostion as in the case of primary addiction or an underlying chemical disorder. When there is a chemical disorder a person will often find a drug that takes over the same receptor site as the appropriate medication would to treat the disorder. So smoking cigarrettes take over the same receptor site as would Ritalin for ADD/ADHD.
