Either she had a parent(s) who deserted her or a former husband or boyfriend that jilted her, etc., and it hurt so much she is terrified of losing you. Of course this makes your life miserable. This problem needs professional counseling for the both of you. Although you didn't cause this problem, it's important you understand why she is like this. If she refuses counseling then it's to the advantage of the relationship that you give her no choice ... counseling or you are leaving! It sounds cruel, but it's called "tough love." Hangiong out serving alcohol is not something they will do I assume so there shouldn't be a problem. You also have to have time for them. They require more support then other kids.

If you ever lived in a foster home you'd know right away how it would help to be adopted. If on the other hand you were to adopt a child in a poor country you can't imagine how this would help some kid who has to root though garbage each day just to eat. <i sorta agree with it but it does not answer the question a real answer would be so they can eat undiseased food and have someone who loves them and have an education and have fun like lots of children would LOVE to be able to do! that is why it would help :D

yes sorta put it this way i am married to a convicted felon. I live in California and have no record i gained custody of his niece at birth thru fostercare and has had her for almost 18mths. of course i was told no way but contactd lawyer and they said yes the way around it is u adopt the child he signs off on the child. social workers lawyers just have to draw up the papers. he will not have any responsiblity to the child but paper doesnt make him the father everyday daddy does good luck

That can be extremely harmful for the child. If that was my child I would forbid you to ever see him again. That would be breaking a trust. If you have the need to tell you wait until they are 18 and let their parents know first that you are going to do so because they are the ones that has to deal with the mess. The birth parents are allowed to contact the child when he is an adult. If you tell them and they look the child up you are partly responsible. Think ahead before attempt breaking a family. Being an adoptive child can be hard enough. You are not doing the child or his family a favor. just telling the child means you should be bale to back it up with proof. And you don't have that since the records are sealed. So no I can't find anywhere that it's illegal but if the child take harm from this I wouldn't be surprised of the family get a restraining order and might even sue you. The choice is theirs and should always be theirs. They are the parents.

The above answer is correct although it does not state that it is not illegal to reveal the whereabouts of an adopted child to his natural parents or inform an adopted child that he is adopted and reveal the whereabouts of his parents, regardless of the child's age. However, as the person above has expressed, it would really be very unwise to do this if the child is happy where he/she is at the moment. If the biological parents have decided they want to find the child they have to adhere to the correct procedure for this, which they will be aware of - it is not for you to intervene. Unless the child in question is being abused or is miserable there can be no positive outcome for intervening in this way, and even if this was the case you should inform the police/authorities, not the biological parents.
