How much does Alaska cost today?

This is a difficult question, since you cannot simply apply inflationary principles. The value of land has changed dramatically since 1867 is much different than the value of bread, grains, or other commodities.

Take this approach to the analysis: Applying the latest CPI data (which only goes back to 1914) and extrapolating other basic cost ratios to account for the time between that and 1867 - the adjusted value of the dollar can make the original $7.2 million purchase price grow to $161 million. That would not be a realistic price for Alaska given its value today...which includes mineral, strategic, and agricultural benefits to name just a few.

Drilling in Alaska?

well I've been doing a research about drilling in Alaska and It's mostly about how people drill to get oil. DRILLING OIL TECHNICALLY MEANS GETTING OIL FROM THE GROUND FOR SOME REASONS. There's a lot of people that are against it, and there's people that are for it. The people that are against it is because they think that the animals and wildlife is more important than the money that we the humans fight for. And the people that are for it, it is because they concentrate more on the money that we pay for the gas and how we live. Well i understand that in the US we are having hard time on the money, but i honestly think that drilling oil will not make a huge different because that's not the only reason why we are living in bad conditions.

IN MY OPINION i WOULD THINK THAT DRILLING OIL WILL NOT MAKE ALOT OF DIFFERENCES, if everyone put there minds on it they might get another solution than worsing the environment and killing MILLION OF ANIMALS.

The approximate driving time and mileage information -

Between: Anchorage, AK

and: Winnipeg, MB, Canada

Driving miles: 2905

Driving time: 64 hrs

- is based on traveling non-stop in good driving conditions. Driving time does not take into consideration conditions which may extend travel time such as weather, road work, border crossings, and rush hour traffic in urban areas.
