How old do you have to be to drink in IL?

I think you have to be as old as the legal drinking age to serve alcohol to people. [improved] Actually it depends on the state, in most states you must be 18 to serve alcohol. I'm 19 and I'm in school for bartending.

How long does your liver take to recover from alcohol?

Too broad of a question. An 18 year old who has spent 6 months drinking alcohol non-stop will most likely take a lot less time to get their liver to recover from alcohol than a 50 year old who has been drinking everyday since the age of 18, for example. Either way, it is best to stop drinking ASAP if your liver has been affected and in some cases it is recommended to seek medical advice.

It is estimated that it could take up to for your liver to get rid of the alcohol in one standard drink?

This is variable. It depends on a number of factors which include:

• How often you drink

• If you have eaten

• Your size

• Your weight

The list is endless; there is no specific time, sorry.

Also there isn't really such thing as a standard drink; what's standard to you could be someone else's mouth-wash.

What is the difference between 100 percent alcohol and absolute alcohol?

100% pure ethanol is 200 proof. vodka is distilled until it is almost totally pure alcohol and then cut with water to give it its final alcohol content and unique flavour, depending on the source of the water.

absolute alcohol n.
Ethyl alcohol containing no more than one percent water.

Chemists may buy absolute (200 proof, 100% pure) ethanol, and though absolute vodka is nowhere near 200 proof, I assume that's where they got the name from

Why are alcoholic drinks called spirits?

im not 100% on this but ive heard that in midieval days people believed that when a man was drunk and disorderly or mean that evil spirits had entered him thru the drink so it could have to do with that. Alcohol brings out the spirit(The inner beliefs and morality that guide that particular individual) that is most prominent in us while reducing our inhibition(wall) that is a defensive mechanism clouding our true self.

How much people die from beer each year?

According to an article in the Lancet by Dr. Jurgen Rhem; about 4% of all deaths globally are directly related to alcohol. This includes traffic fatalities, falling injuries, and medical conditions like liver cirrhosis; among others.

This statistic includes all forms of alcohol; there are no statistics kept about deaths just related to beer. However beer is the most common type of alcohol consumed worldwide; it would probably have a significant role in the majority of these deaths.

What is an alcohol intoxication?

Intoxication refers to the state of being drunk or otherwise impaired due to the consumption of drugs. In America, DWI refers to "driving while intoxicated".

What are the best alcoholic drinks?

I'm guessing sweet shots or sour drinks are high-ranking flavors.

Candidates include cream drinks (with bailey's, advocat, amarula) and some other sweet flavor (e.g., amaretto, gran marnier, frangelico, kahlua, triple sec, etc.).

Specific examples are shots lilke: b52s, china whites, and tropical drinks like: pina coladas, painkillers...

Sour drinks might include: lemon drops, whiskey sours, amaretto sour, etc. I used to bartend and a few times have made an amaretto sour that got several experienced drinkers to say "Best drink ever tasted. Ever." (but, I cannot reliably replicate and usually make merely "nice" versions). We're talking 'bout making sour mix from scratch, using raw (pasteurized) eggs to foam the drinks... old school... and getting the perfect balance of sweet/sour. Otherwise, I'd look elsewhere.

A well-made espresso or fig martini, mojito, and other cocktails can be high craftmanship drinks that deliver. But, if I was suggesting ONE easy but tasty drink, I'd bet on a shot that had bailey's as a main ingredient. I don't know: how bout an f16:

1 part kahlua, 1 part frangelico, 1 part bailey's Irish cream. layer in order listed (by pouring slowly over the back of spoon so that shot has layers of color, with bailey's floating perfectly on top).

How many units of alcohol can you drink when driving?

In the UK the drink driving limit is:

35 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath; or

80 milligrams of alcohol per 100 millilitres of blood; or

107 milligrams of alcohol per 100 millilitres of urine.

The legal drink drive limit cannot be safely converted into a certain number of units, as it depends on a number of factors to include gender, body mass and how quickly your body absorbs alcohol into the blood stream.

What function is first affected when a person begins to drink alcohol?

One of the first functions affected when a person drinks alcohol is the mind, or thinking process. After a few drinks the person will have a hard time getting their thoughts together. Another very important function that is quickly affected is their driving capability. Even a person who does not seem to be drunk, or who has only had a couple of drinks, will not have the capability he or she needs to drive a car.

What are some effects of alcohol on the fetus?

I assume that this question means "What are the harms caused to you and your baby while drinking alcohol while you are pregnant?" The harms to the mother while drinking alcohol while pregnant are not very significant, unless she drinks excessively. The harm to the child however are severe. Even a single beer during pregnancy greatly increases the chances of Fetal Alcohol Syndrome (FAS), which causes huge amounts of developmental problems in the foetus, and will affect the child for the rest of his or her life. In some countries, drinking while pregnant CAN endanger the mother, as it is seen as being socially and legally unacceptable.

Is it ok to drink one beer a day?

In moderation it can be OK. Some beers (Irish type stout) and spirits are thought to be theraputic. However, alcohol is a depressant and in excess can cause errors in judgement, loss of sensibility, liver and other organ damage, dehydration and chronic addiction. NB cider and cherry brandy and drinks with salad/forestry in do not count as part of your five a day.

How can drinking alcohol lead to hypothermia?

No. However - drinking causes one to "feel hotter" and therefore wearing less clothing resulting in a lower core temperature than usual.

Actually, it does make you lose body heat. The blood vessels close to your skin dilates,(widens) allowing more blood going to your skin, thus losing body heat. You feel hotter because the nerves close to your skin, (The ones that feels the heat) still felt heat, so it assumes that you're actually hot while you are losing your heat.

Do you use alcohol or iodine?

If you're asking the usage for medicinal purposes, [i.e. cuts and scratches], alcohol is the all-purpose ointment, mostly for superficial scratches, rashes or stings in my use. Iodine, I use for more deeper cuts, lacerations or punctures, whether I go to the doctor or not. Better to add something nowadays with all the diseases floating around.

Does wine get you drunk?

No

Yes, definitely. Effervescence causes alcohol to be absorbed into the bloodstream more quickly. And, of course, a sparkling wine such as champagne will also cause more rapid alcohol absorption.
