Basically the lights in the other world saved them. Tomoya collected a bunch of them throughout his life from helping a bunch of people (such as Miyazawa and his own father). When Ushio died, he lost all hope in life but he wished that Nagisa hadn't died while giving birth to Ushio and that Ushio was still alive. When he died (yes, he died in the last scene while clutching Ushio), he made that wish and was whisked back in time to when he first met Nagisa and was given a choice to whether or not meet her and have all those things happen. He decided to meet Nagisa and he fast forwarded to when Nagisa had given birth to Ushio and she had survived.

Also, just to clear things up about the robot and the girl in the other world (they played a big part in Nagisa's revival), the girl is Ushio and the robot was Tomoya. Both sides of Tomoya (the robot and the one in the real world) were collecting a bunch of those lights and together, they combined all their lights and made one wish each. Tomoya made the revival wish while the robot wished that he and the girl (ushio) could go to the other world. Since they collected so many lights, their wishes came true. The girl was born into the other world as Ushio while the robot was reborn as Tomoya.

The show did not get canceled, it simply ended. The creators did not want to make a run on series that eventually got boring, and drop views and ratings. Instead, they ended the series with pride, having the last view episodes the most viewed cartoons Nickelodeon has ever had.

There is going to be a spin-off series coming this November called Avatar: The Legend of Korra and 3 live-action movies (1 already out) coming soon.

for me, manga. anime has colour and you just watch it instead of having to read but the manga, for me, is better cuz theres more detail (in the anime sometimes they skip parts that are in the manga) and if you missed something you can just read it over again. ^^

to add what they said it really depends on how they interped the story line there are anime who story line and chacter devoploment are better than the manga but i belive its what ever you started watching and or reading first..... but there are some anime that follow the manga to the very point of color everything lol and others where the name of the people are really the only samthing

Idk. Both are realllllly good. Sometimes manga draws things out to long. Sometimes Anime skips important parts. It's a really hard choice. :)

For me manga is better. To me, manga is more the original work, and also anime has a lot of filler episodes when waiting for the manga to be produced. Also, I find anime is a little slower paced than manga.

It's been out on DVD since 2011. Sadly, I don't think it has 3D...
