Why do we sent astronaut in the outer space?
Astronauts are exploring the space and the moon , as all of us can not go out there. They are also exploring the space and the moon to find new things.
Well, there isn't a specific reason why they eat tacos. It's like saying why are YOU eating tacos. They are human beings too, just like us. We love tacos and therefore eat them.
Why do the astronauts have to be mentally and physically fit?
If they werent mentally fit, they would have a breakdown, and if they arent physically fit, they couldn't do their work in 0 Gravity. Please Reccomend.
What did Alan Shepard Jr do on May 5th 1961?
On May 5, 1961, Alan Shepard piloted the Freedom 7 mission and became the second person, and the first American, to travel into space
It actually means that the astronaut is in free fall, and doesn't FEEL gravity. Gravity does affect the astronaut, so the astronaut will still be accelerated towards Earth. However, the astronaut won't feel the gravity.
What happened to Astronaut Ed White?
While the ignition source that killed the crew remains obscured, the astronauts of Apollo 1 died in a fire during an ill-fated launch countdown rehearsal on January 27, 1967. See more information at the related Wikipedialink listed below:
Where was niel Armstrong raised?
Neil Armstrong was raised in Wapakoneta, Ohio. He was born August 5, 1930.
How many astronauts that walked on moon were left handed?
Just one that I know of: Charlie Duke, from Apollo 16. Jim Lovell from Apollo 13 is left handed, and he was supposed to walk on the moon, but of course that mission was aborted.
I read on a 'left handed site' somewhere that 4 of the 12 men who actually walked on the Moon were left handed.
When astronauts travel in space they must wear special helmets. Why?
The helmets are part of their space suits. They do not normally wear space suits unless they are going outside the spacecraft. Since there is no air outside and it can be very cold or hot. They need the suits to breathe and to protect them from the heat or cold and the vacuum of space which would kill them.
Did the first astronauts have space suits?
Yes, a pressure suit (otherwise known as a space suit) is a fundamental safety feature used on almost all space flights. The Soviets sent a few people up without one, but the United States requires that all its astronauts wear their pressure suit, including their helmet, during launch and reentry. The only U.S. crew that did not wear their helmets during reentry was the Apollo 7 crew. All 3 of them contracted severe head colds while in space. They felt their eardrums might burst due to sinus pressure if they had their helmets on during reentry. NASA administrators did not agree. None of the Apollo 7 astronauts ever flew again
weightless is just a figure of speech. things in space are just lighter than they are on earth. the space shuttle weighs 220,000pds so in space it might weigh 100,000pds.
What jobs did Larry page have?
Larry Page has had many different jobs. He has been a computer scientist, business magnate, professor, and CEO of Google.
Who were the American astronauts that flew on the soyuz?
The astronauts on the flight were Thomas Stafford, Deke Slayton, and Vance Brand. Deke Slayton had just been restored to flight status after being grounded for numerous years. This was his first flight in space. Tom Stafford flew Gemini 6, Gemini 9, and Apollo 10. He was to command the Soyuz-Apollo flight. Vance Brand was a rookie, so this was his first flight, along with Deke Slayton.
Who is the theLAST American man to set foot on the moon?
The last man to walk on the moon was Harrison Schmitt.
How exactly did the first astronaut on the moon communicate?
By radio. They had microphones in their helmets and radio transmitter/receiver units in the PLSS (Personal Life Support System, pronounced pliss, the big backpacks they wore). The signal produced by the PLSS unit would be picked up by the LM which relaedy the communication to Earth. For speaking between themselves, the PLSS units could both send and receive, so the astronauts were in direct communication with each, similar to if you and your friend were walking around in a park with walkie-talkies.
As of November 2011, Helen Sharman is not dead. She was born on 30 May 1963, making her 48 now.
The Mercury, Gemini, and Apollo astronauts were all military test pilots. With a few rare exceptions, (Neil Armstrong for one) the astronauts were on loan from their military branch to NASA. They weren't paid by NASA, the were paid by their branch of service.
The Shuttle astronauts are a little different. The pilots are still former military test pilots, but the mission specialists come mostly from the science community. The mission specialists are paid directly by NASA while the vast majority of pilots remain part of the military.
Have any scientist went out of the universe?
no scientific equipment can go out of this universe because the scientist won't get feedback and astronaut can't go out of the universe because the astronauts well get stuck.
Why didn't NASA send astronauts to Mars instead of the unmanned 'Pathfinder' discovery mission?
Sending human beings to Mars is substantially more dangerous and expensive than sending an unmanned shuttle. It would take many days for astronauts to reach the red planet, and large quantities of supplies would need to be sent with them for them to survive the journey and to spend enough time on Mars to collect useful data and samples.
What are the effects of not having a toilet in space?
Astronauts would not have an easy to access place to defecate or urinate. If that were to happen, they may have to hold it or defecate into bags. That problem is that the food bags look so similar that people may eat fecal matter.
If they held it, their urinary bladder could get infected. It would also deal damage to the kidneys.
If they hold their feces, it could take a while but along with symptoms headaches, pressure pains, feeling ill, abdominal aches, bloating and gas the intestines can eventually rip from the pressure.
If they defecated or urinated randomly about, their waste could go into important equipment (suits, clothing, technologies, etc.), and cause malfunctions or just be plain uncomfortable. Doubled with the fact that body waste is breeding grounds for bacteria. Illnesses would spread like wildfire.
Have Americans and soviets ever coperated on space missions?
Yes they have. The Americans and Soviets used to be competitors in space travel during the Cold War, but once the Cold War ended so did the Space Race. Americans and Soviet have flown into space together and completed many missions together. Currently, the US will rely on Russia for transporting American astronauts into space as NASA shut this program down due to financial cut backs.
