What were the two atomic bombs that were dropped on japan made of?
The MK-I Little Boy had about 100 pounds of 80% enriched uranium and about 4 tons of other stuff needed to make that explode.
The MK-III Fat Man had about 15 pounds of plutonium and about 5 tons of other stuff needed to make that explode.

How many atomic bombs did the US have during the Manhattan Project?
The Manhattan Project began in 1942 and ended in August 1947, with the establishment of the Atomic Energy Commission.
A rough estimate is that in this time 15 to 20 atomic bombs had been built, with 5 of those detonated, leaving a stockpile by the time the Manhattan Project ended of 10 to 15 atomic bombs.
What were the pros and cons for dropping the atomic bomb on japan-?
Con: people died
Pro:
2. it ushered in an era of US power and preeminence
3. The bombing averted further loss of American soldiers.

How did the atomic bomb affect japan?

Who inspired harry Truman to develop the atomic bomb in 1949?
The atomic bomb was developed many years before 1949. It was dropped on Japan in 1945. In 1939, Albert Einstein told Pres. Franklin D. Roosevelt that Nazi Germany wanted to develop an atomic bomb. Then the US government began producing research known only then as The Manhattan Project. A massive laboratory was started at Oak Ridge, Tennessee.
How did Julius and Ethel Rosenberg get atomic bomb information?
Documents and information released by the FBI after the Freedom of Information Act indicates that the Rosenbergs never did have any atomic bomb information. They were convicted (and do appear to have in fact been guilty) of espionage but there was never any evidence to support the theory that they passed on atomic secrets specifically. Much of the information on them was given to the FBI by Ethel's brother David Greenglass (who had admitted being part of a spy ring himself.). Greenglass later said that he had inflated many of the claims against his sister.
Their case file, which is really interesting, can be read here:
http://foia.fbi.gov/foiaindex/roberg.htm The assumption of their knowledge of atomic secrets came because both of the Rosenbergs, along with Greenglass, were thought to be in collusion with Klaus Fuchs, who was head of the physics department at Harwell, the British nuclear research center.
What Allied Country had no prior knowledge of the Atomic bomb before it was dropped over Japan?
China was kept completely in the dark about nuclear development.
Why were the two atomic bombs dropped on Japan called Little Boy and Fat Man?
Because of their shapes. In the plutonium bomb the plutonium was in the shape of a sphere and shaped explosive charges were placed around it to drive the sphere into itself and start the nuclear reaction. This configuration gave the bomb a stubby, rounded shape, hence the name Fat Man. In the uranium bomb on the other hand, most of the uranuim was formed into a cylinder with a hole in one end. An additional plug of uranium was fired down a smooth bore cannon barrel into that hole, thus producing critical mass and starting the chain reaction. That bomb looked long and slim in comparison with the other so it was called Little Boy. A third bomb design called Thin Man had been designed using the gun assembly mechanism (like Little Boy used) but with plutonium, it was roughly twice as long as Little Boy and much thinner but the design was found to be unworkable so it was abandoned and work on Fat Man begun to make use of plutonium.
What if Germany made the first atomic bomb?
If they won the race chaos would break. Depending on where you live you might of been dead now.

How far away was the plane when the atomic bomb exploded on Japan?
The diving turn maneuver that the Enola Gay at Hiroshima and Bockscar at Nagasaki performed brought them to about 11 miles distance from the burst before the shockwaves hit the aircraft. The photography and instrumentation planes accompanying them were probably also at least this far away.
Who was president when the atomic bomb was made?
Franklin Roosevelt- but he died before the atomic bomb was used. Harry Truman was the next president, and ordered the use of the atomic bomb.
Is nitrogen in an atomic bomb?
Possibly and possibly not. It would depend on design. If it was used the most likely use would be as dry nitrogen to prevent corrosion.
