DAT file are binary files with text. They can be opened in Word. They aren't pictures that can be converted into JPEGs.

Install software and drivers.

On a Mac just plug in the head phones and it should just work. If not then go to the Sound Preferences and see if they show up and select them if they do.

On a Windows machine plug in the head phones and wait for the drivers to load and see if it works, if not then you will have to go into the Sound Control Panel and navigate to the head phones and manually select them.

They should show up in the Output submenus in both operating sequence.

Steinberg's Wavelab can rip CD's to uncompressed WAVE files. It isn't the cheapest program, but it is a very good mastering/editing program.

.SPS is a graphic file, not an audio file. It cannot be converted to an MP3.

Good recording techniques are very important to get quality audio with any mic you use.

Make sure that the room you are in is void of any sort of constant noise like computers, heaters, fans, fridges, neon lights and younger siblings/nagging spouses/douche-bag room mates. These things can sound like static in your recording.

The AT2020's diaphragm is oriented vertically, so when you record into it, make sure you are positioned to the side of the mic. I know it sounds stupid, but often people will use the AT2020 like a Popsicle and they end up making a crappy recording and more often than not look like a retard.

Gain staging is critical to eliminate as much static as possible. Keep your gain as low as you can and your audio source close to the mic (but not too close as to avoid wind from vocals). Experiment with different combinations of levels so you get clear audio with little or no static.

If you do have static in the end, you can run a Low Pass Filter over the channel you recorded on. Figure out what frequency the static is at and reduce the gain as much as you can without affecting the audio recording.

This happens when the file is either DRM protected or is in an unknown format. Import a file in WAV, MP3, OGG, or a WMA file that you know is DRM-free.

GarageBand is only for Mac.

Garageband does not have a master balance (left/right) control. You will have to adjust the pan control for each track individually to balance the sound left/right.

Audacity is an open-souce audio recorder and editor. It is a completely free software that can record tracks, play tracks, edit tracks, and allows one to apply effects to the tracks.

The record company that makes the album should be sending you royalty checks if you have signed a contract as produced of a song they publish. If you produced the song for a flat fee with no sales percentage split in a contract, you can't collect royalties. In the US, companies like ASCAP distribute royalties for songs played on tv and radio. In Canada, SOCAN does the same.

Steinberg's Wavelab Essentials is close.

There is a program called 'Virtual DJ' and there is a free version. Basically what this program does is it lets you combine up to four songs and it has effects that you can do along with it.

A WMN file is a playlist file for Dart Pro audio editiing application. It does not contain any audio itself, so it cannot be converted to a WAV file.

If you're recording vocals place a pop shield between the microphone and the vocalist and most unwanted noises and accentuations will be gone. As for anything else, I recommend clever EQing to remove bleed and other unwanted sounds.

The most common acoustic measurement tools are the Loudness Meter, and the Real-Time Analyser.

The Loudness meter measures dbSPL.

The Real-Time Analyser measures the power of individual frequency bands.

You can find auditions for TV shows, movies, or commercials and in your auditions you sing and if they liked your singing you might be able to be on TV and sing.

Once people notice your singing on TV they may start to like you and you could get fans.

Also, get an agent at the beginning after they tell you that you have a part.

Write a song,ask someone is you can sing a song with them, or a recording company might ask you to sing a song and then the song most likely will get famous and so will you.

Or, you could start small by singing covers.

If you post those covers to YouTube and whatnot, you may get discovered.

First of all you need to have the microphone hooked up to the computer before you load audacity. Second you need to go into the control panel of the PC and find sound devices, and choose the input to the location of where you pluged in the mic.

The effect you're looking for is reverb, probably combined with a delay, depending on if you want the echo or not.

How you achieve this depends on where you're trying to achieve that effect, be it mixing a band/artist live, or in recording with either analog or digital gear.

Live, you would need a digital effects processor, the same for if you were recording analog.

For digital recording, you would probably use a plug-in effect. Which plug-in effect depends on the Digital Audio Workstation you're using.
