Why does autistic people have shorter lifespans?
They don't, the reason you may not see servely autistic people in public is because they may live in special homes or at their parents house still. People with high functioning autism/aspergers can easily live by their own and can operate day to day like any other person. You may not even notice they have a disorder.
How many people in the UK have autism?
It's hard to say how many people are Autistic in the UK because not all Autistic people are diagnosed, and diagnosis is the only way we'd be able to tell. Different sources give different figures but most figures stand at around 700,000 people in the UK, representing 1 in 100.
Who are some writers with Asperger's Syndrome?
Jo Momma for sure, uncertain about anyone else. I hope this helped.
What would a mild case of torretts consist of?
Referrring to Tourette's syndrome? If so, see the link below.
If you had developmental delays then you would have been diagnosed with Autistic Spectrum Disorder under the old diagnostic criteria - Asperger Syndrome doesn't have developmental delays, this is the only distinction between Autism Spectrum Disorder and Asperger Syndrome diagnosis - as it is Asperger Syndrome is no longer recognized by the DSM as a diagnosis.
Someone should give you an assessment for Autism, if your counselor can't do this they can refer you to someone who can - this just involves asking questions about your experiences and how you were when you were younger. It's a good idea for you to learn a little more about Autism yourself.
How do you interact with someone with Asperger's Syndrome?
If he autistic kid is at a school they'll probably have someone with them who watches them and helps them learn like everyone else. Since each autisic kid is different you should ask the person with the autistic guy to learn more about him/her. They best way to interact with them is to learn more about them.
Yes, it is heavily over-diagnosed. The fact is autism is not a disease. Contrary to what everyone else think, it must not be treated like a disease. We have treated children using unique methods and have had complete results. Completely back to normal, over time of course.
Many a time it happens a person/child is experiencing certain conditions but those which have no medical evidence of existing. It is wrong to categorize it generally.
Every autistic person needs his/her own approach and what worked for one doesn't likely work for another.
There is autism and there is clinical autism. The latter may be diagnosed and treated but not the former. It is more complex.
Is Autism a personality or a disorder?
Autism is considered to be a disorder - thus why it's called Autism Spectrum Disorder. Autism is certainly not a personality, all Autistic people have vastly different personalities.
Why do people with Asperger Syndrome seem very clever?
Though causation is still uncertain, there certainly is a significant correlation between high intelligence and Asperger's. Aspies also tend to have a logical and methodical approach to things, which can easily be perceived as higher intelligence, and we get easily obsessed (or at least overly interested) in specific topics.
Why Do Autistic People Get Teased in School?
Autistic people can teased in school for the same reasons that anyone different gets teased at school - mob rule, and when you are bullying the child who is different it takes attention away from you. It can also be like other forms of discrimination like racism and homophobia, wider society approves of prejudice so children will act with prejudice too (in this case ableism).
How Popular are Teenage Males with Asperger's Syndrome?
Generally kids Aspergers Syndrome are just a s popular as nerds are which means "Very unpopular".
They are socially delayed which means they may be like this here is an example
14 year old Jeremy has Aspergers Syndrome he loves Video Games and if he had all the time in the world to think about them he would love that.
Other 13 and 14 year old boy's like video games as well but they don't always want to be playing them 24/7 they want to be making friends with other kids.
Asperger's kids struggle socially and have trouble being around other people which can increase their anxiety and they can behave oddly in public such as:
* Stimming
* Running
* Jumping
* Flapping
This makes them stand out and even attracts attention to the other kids which means being bullied quite frequently.
E.g
When Jeremy is on the way to class pretends to be an assassin fighting militia groups. The other kids see him as playing by himself and they begin to think he is weird, therefore thus leading him to being teased about it and mocked in social situations.
Asperger's Kids also repeat things wether it is a word a phrase or a sentence or a fact.
E.g
Jeremy repeats the phrases from his video games.
* Target in site
* Surrender now because your death is near
* FATALITY
When Jeremy repeats things the other kids will mock him even film it our record it via voice recorder and put it up on social media which means humiliating him and even finding him annoying.
Friends
Asperger's kids generally do not have many human friends but if they do then their friends are fellow aspy kids they either hang out in groups of 2, 3 or 4 and do not tolerate large groups of people like neurotypical kids do. At times Aspergers kids would prefer to hang out by themselves than to be with other people.
E.g
Jeremy's best friend is Byron both of them are Aspergers kids, They understand each other and are more easy going in social situations due to the fact that they have similar traits and characteristics.
This Answer was used to explain the reason why Asperger's kids are not popular in school.
They are generally more laid back and less stuck up but they at times have a lack of empathy
Do Autistic children claim they see glowing shafts of light?
No, autistic children don't claim they can see glowing shafts of light, that has nothing to do with autism. Visual hallucinations suggest a mental health issue.
Yes, there is no way what so ever to catch Autism. You have to be born with it.

Autistic parents are advantageous to autistic children because they understand each other and can communicate with each other and share interests effectively.
Was autism called something else before it was identified as autism?
Before autism was known as is, the oldest record of it was known as somebody who had been possessed by evil. There were false rumors about it being a threat to society and convinced everyone that it must be vanquished. No witch that was burnt had lived to tell of their lives.
What is the difference between autism and Aspergers syndrome?
The two conditions have now been merged, it was recognized that there was not enough difference between the two for them to be considered separate disorders/syndromes. The only real difference is that with Asperger Syndrome there is no developmental delays, whereas with Autism there can be developmental delays such as a delay in speech. The idea that Asperger Syndrome is less severe or 'high-functioning' (which is a highly offensive term) is completely false.
Is it dangerous to date someone with Asperger's Syndrome?
People with Aspergers have problems with interacting directly with other people and a few other minor symtoms. Other than that, they are just as normal as the rest of us.
How do people treat people with autism?
ANSWER
people just don't understand them, and they don't understand the people either.
my boyfs childhood was not all that nice when it comes to his aspergers,
some of his teachers didnt like him, one picked on him simply because he was different,( i tell you id have a few words to say to her if i ever met her!) she was very mean.(she shouldn't have been a teacher if you ask me)
his headmaster said hed never seen a child as strange as him in all his years, (presumable because one minute he can do all his work faster than everyone else, next day he just sits there uninterested in it, because he struggled with basic sums , picked up, then stuggled again)
no other children talked to him because they thought he was weird and just didnt like him and the way he saw and talked about things
and he was severely bullied all his childhood, which led to him being very able to strike back with words as defence,which he actually became so good at in secondary school people argued with him just to see what witty, funny and horrible things hed say, ( he was still like that at the beginging of our relationship too, it wasnt nice)
he once sat and talked candidly to a priest about not believing in god because a man in the clouds isn't logical, so you can imagine from that people were very confused and most people don't like being confronted with logic from a child who they consider to not have any real knowledge of anything yet.
but its mostly about not understanding, any people can be scared of things they don't understand andi do think if hed been diagnosed then things could have been better for him.
nowadays hes learned to keep some things in, from people who don't know him, and has me to help when he makes someone a bit uncomfortable or cant explain himself so people are generaly very receptive to him and actually, nowadays, like his brand of honest reality, (although not everyone) as long as he doesn't get too honest and real, which he can!
obviously i cant say anything about how other autistic and severely autistic people are treated by society but that's my boyfs experiences

Is Asperger's Syndrome good or bad?
Honestly, It is very beneficial. Do not think I am saying this because I myself have asperger's syndrome. It is because we have great facinations in certain subjects like technology (Bill_Gates) Politics (Benjamin_Franklin, please note that he was alledged to have asperger's syndrome) and much smaller subjects, such as the creation of atoms and such, Even Autism can be very beneficial in this subject. I believe that you should be proud of having Asperger's Syndrome and Autism despite the unbenificial social life, the sometimes disability to learn in class, Possible Eating Disorders and so fourth. If there was a cure, I would not take the cure because I am happy to be an "aspie" because of the benefits.
