How can you be a ballerina with perfect feet?

by getting surgery or learning to keep it perfect I was not born with good feet but now people tell me that they want my feet. This is how I did it. I was really bored one summer so all I did the whole summer long was sit, watch TV and point my feet. I put the top part of my arch under a piece of furniture and straightened my legs. I would get my sisters to physically point my feet for me. I also physically tried to arch my feet with my hands. ^^ that is really bad for your feet, I wouldn't suggest that. If you want to have perfect feet, and do pointe... too bad. I have tried everything. I have good arches and everything, but my nails are always getting chipped and your toes are always getting squished. << But in the dance world, when they say "perfect feet," they mean the way the feet point, bend, flex and whathaveyou. The foot work, not the feet themselves. There are women all over the ballet world who do this. Many talk of "perfect feet." The feet of ladies in this field are notoriously deformed---calluses, blisters, boils, warts, damaged nails, athlete's foot, bunions, and on and on and on. Good feet mean high arches, high insteps, long feet, long and wide toes. You get the idea. These feet are best designed for dance. As for how to improve your feet---There's surgery on the foot (will help early on, but in the long run...), there's wearing arch supports, as much foot flexing exercises as possible. And yeah, I would recommend that 24-7 foot exercising mentioned in the above paragraph. Remember---nothing is written in stone. Margot Fonteyn wasn't born with great feet and neither did Rudoplh Nureyev or Gelsey Kirkland. Make your own gifts.

How do you make a ballet bun?

  1. put your hair in a ponytail try to make sure that your hair is smooth (if you are going to be in a show then you should put gel and hairspray in your hair then comb it through once more to make is stay and have it be smooth)
  2. split the hair in half then take one half and twist it
  3. next wrap it around the other half and pin as you go (you can use big pins or small pins depending on how thick your hair is) when you pin try to make sure you go through the hair on your hair and the hair in your pony tail
  4. twist the other half of the hair
  5. wrap the other piece and pin as you wrap
  6. finally put hairnet in wrap it around a couple times try to wrap around as much as possible (if you have a little extra pin under the bun with an extra bobby pin)
  7. Then a little bit of hairspray and look at that a beautiful bun

Tips:

  • You should try to make sure that your bun is as flat as possible against your head
  • if you have really thin hair then instead of splitting it in two then you can just combine steps 3 and 4 together.

What movie did Mikhail Baryshnikov star in before White Nights?

Mikhail Baryshnikov has received credit for performances in the following films: * The Turning Point (1977) - his film debut * White Nights (1985) * Dancers (1987) * Company Business (1991) Um... That would be "The Turning Point" (1977), that film introduced him to film and speaking roles. He was basically playing himself--they gave him a different name, but essentially he was... just Misha. What are good ballet leg stretches for someone who can already do oversplits?

I am very sorry to tell you this. but I have got to admit that that is...... a pretty stupid question. If you can do the over splits to all sides you don't quite have to stretch anymore. Just keep on stretchin your oversplits and try and find a way to make stretches that you did before actually stretch you. Also, if you you have a "weak" flexibility point, just stretch that. Now if its just weaker but still pretty flexible, I already answered your question. Maybe that answer was a bit harsh. Well I'm sorry if it hurt your feelings.

What is the difference between classical ballet neoclassical and contemporary ballet?

Well classical ballet is slow and flowey and in contemporary ballet it has got a jazz in it

That's a pretty good question. Well, to be honest, classical ballet has a slow, fluid motion to it. Neoclassical is very retro, sort of using the style of the long surviving classical dance with the type of music and motion.

Contemporary ballet is more modern, faster. More rapid.

Classical ballet is the foundation of all ballet dance. It is the name given to the art form which spawned neo-classical and, later, contemporary ballet. All ballet dancers are trained in the classical style.

What we call Classical ballets today are generally those that came from the latter half of the 19th century, when the development of pointe shoes led to a dramatic rise in the popularity of the art form. Ballets such as "Giselle", "Les Syhlpides" and "Swan Lake" constitute the Classical repertoire. Most often, there is a story to the ballet, but there are exceptions, such as "Pas de Quatre".

Neoclassicism is generally attributed to George Balanchine, founder of the New York City Ballet. He favored technique over theatrics, so many of his ballets are performed with no sets. Very few Balanchine ballets have a story line.

Contemporary ballet is often choreographed to modern music. Take, for instance, "Billboards" by the Joffery Ballet. It is energetic, expressive, and dynamic. It is diverse as our culture, but still looks best when done by classically trained artists.

Hope that helps :)

Did Filippo Taglioni invent the pointe shoe?

YES! But his daughter, Marie Taglioni, took credit. She was credited with this major feat because of her fame from La Sylphide. There have been earlier records of "Pointe Shoes", but really, they were only leather enforced ballet slippers. Dancers were put on wires that made them appear on pointe. Some were even strong enough to hold them selves up for a quick pose, but nothing more.
