What does a fire rod do on a BBQ grill?
I've been told by customer service for Red Stone grills it's to connect to the site of the grill, hang down and touch the ground. It's incase lightning strikes the grill it will be grounded. Makes sense but my grill calls for it to hang down to the ground on the site with the propane tank 2 inches away from it. This of course does not make much sense to me so I will figure out how to hang it off the grill, down to the ground on the opposite side of the propane tank. I assume that would be best...

What do you hear in a barbecue?
Sizzlin' meat, clinking beer bottles, and happy people, large and small.
you don't have to patent but it would be a good idea to as if you give them the recipe they would be able to say it was their own and you wouldn't not be able to really stop them. So yes you should really get a patent on it if you wish to resell or offer it to a business.
How do you estimate how much meat per person is needed when catering a barbecue?
There are a lot of different opinions on this one, but a good general rule of thumb is to estimate needing between 1/2 and 1 lb of UNCOOKED meat per adult male and between 1/4 - 1/2 lb each for females and children (depending on the age of the children).
Other factors to take into account include the number of meats served, as well as the number of side dishes and appetizers.
A good idea is to imagine what the "average" plate will look like and go from there. Will people want to try a taste of all the meats, or will there be a "standout" dish that everyone will want seconds of? Plan your menu accordingly.

Do a lot of people eat BBQ in Ohio?
you need to be more specific of what part of Ohio but I think not every people eat that
The reason you don't place it directly in the oven from the wrapper is because no matter how hard they try, there is going to be a certain amount of bacteria present. This bacteria needs to be removed before cooking, thus the cleaning described previously. With refrigeration and proper handling it can be kept to a minimum. Without, it can go bad in a short amount of time.
Can stewing hens be barbecued?
A chicken that's termed "stewing hen" is older and tougher and not really the type of chicken meant for the quicker cooking methods that are used for young, tender chicken. A stewing hen needs long, slow, moist cooking to make it edible but it does have wonderful flavor when cooked properly. It makes great soup and chicken stew. It is also good when cooked correctly, cooled, and then the meat pulled off the bones and used in salads or casseroles or other such dishes.
The above, of course, supposes that by "barbecue" you mean "to grill tender meat over high heat and quickly" rather than "to smoke tough meat over low, indirect heat for an extended period of time" a process generally considered, at least in the American South, as the only valid meaning of the word "barbecue." Based on that assumption, the above is correct; you cannot fast cook stewing hens with good results.
However, as the first paragraph makes clear, the converse is true in the slow smoking process. The stewing hen actually becomes far superior to younger, more tender chickens for any application requiring slow cooking, including barbecue.
