In larger (10+ gallon) well furnished tanks, some people have successfully kept African Dwarf Frogs with bettas. These very small frogs grow no larger than the fish. However, great care must be taken to ensure that both the betta and the frogs are appropriately fed. Also, some bettas will bully the frogs and are not appropriate tankmates.

If you do want to attempt a betta/frogs setup, make sure your frogs are African Dwarf Frogs and not African Clawed Frogs; the much larger and more aggressive African Clawed Frog will probably eat your betta.

That depends on how you are keeping your Discus. If they are in a bare "species tank" with no gravel or plants, I would suggest you don't add any other species. If on the other hand you are going the "decorative, planted aquarium" way then I would be suggesting one or two of the "Corydoras" family as bottom dwellers, a shoal of around 12 Tetras (I like "Cardinal tetras" (Cheirodon axelrodi)) to provide action and colour and maybe a few livebearers (guppies?) to provide a bit of interest for the Discus in the form of livefood to hunt occasionally. As a retired Discus breeder, my advice is to look after their water quality, followed by look after their water quality, followed by keep an eye on their water quality. I can not stress this enough. Discus are as tough as nails provided they have perfect water that suits their requirements perfectly. To keep Discus healthy, daily water changes of at least 10% are a neccessity as are water changes of a minimum of 50%weekly.

I have fed finely chopped lean beef, chicken breast, liver and kidney to many species of fish including Bettas. Extreme Care must be taken to remove any left overs to avoid poisoning the water.

Put in in by itself, and if the fins are not to tore up they will grow back, if they are to far gone the fish may get a fungus and die, whatever the fish should be removed from the tank isolated and allowed to heal or die.

to breed bettas you will need several different tanks. you will need a breeding tank. a female tank and a male tank. then you will need tanks to put the male babies in once they get old enough to start attacking each other.

i suggest you put 3 females in the breeding tank with the male. once the male breeds with one of the females romove all the females. then once the babys are swimming freely all over the tank with out the male trying to put them back in the bubble nest remove the male. and put him in a separate tank from the females. then once you can tell the genders of the fish put all the males in their own tanks and you can leave the females in the breeding tank intill your ready to find homes for them. if you cannot tell the males apart from the females then you can separate all the fish and put them in their own tanks.

That answer is correct. The packages typically lead you to believe that you need to feed your betta 2-4 times a day. I can tell you from experience that if you do you will probably over-feed your betta which could shorten his life span. I've had my betta 2.5 years, fed once a day, and he is still going strong.

Can you feed a Betta twice a day, three grains each time? We did feed him once a day at three grains in the morning, he was very antsy in his fish bowl. So we moved him up to three grains twice a day, once in the morn and once in the evening.

the people at the pet store said that you should feed them 2 flakes every other day. This seems to work for my fish, as he is very active and loves to make bubble nests.

My betta is in a community tank and has been for a few years now. they get fed twice a day with the other tropical fish and weekly they all get bloodworms and daphnia, all live food.

I have no problems and to be honest my fish are going stronger than most of my friends that have listened to advice and then lost them after only a few months. if you are not sure then only feed fish a pinch once a day of food so that you can be sure you are not over feeding them. this would cause them to get fat and thie would lead to health problems or it will mean they produce more waste matter hence the tank will require additional water changes or the waste food with sit on the gravel on the tank floor and contaminate the tank as it decays

You should feed it 3 to 4 flakes two times every day. Be careful not to over feed it. If you did over feed it you will like patch of oils in the water.
