What should you do if you start a new pack of birth control late?

If you had unprotected sex and you missed 3 or more pills from a new pack you may want to consider using the Plan B pill. If you have not had sex since missing pills from your new pack - start the new pack as soon as you realize you have missed any and use back up protection (condoms or Today Sponge etc) until you have taken 7 pills in 7 days.

Could birth control pills cause diarrhea?

Hi, There is a tiny chance it could cause diarrhea, especially if you have just started taking birth control pill. I took birth control for 4 months, during which I had terrible stomach problems- urgency, diarrhea- you name it. I am only 22 but felt like I had a 90 year old's digestive system. My general doctor couldn't figure it out nor could a gastroenterologist nor OBGYN. I thought I was lactose intolerant, but not eating dairy only helped but did not stop the problem. Then I stopped taking the pill. Over the course of 3 weeks, all of my stomach problems died away. Not realizing the pill had been the problem, I started taking it about one month later and BOOM! sick all over again. So I stopped taking it again and have not had a single problem since (it is now 2 months later). I am in fact not lactose intolerant and do not have Irritable Bowel Syndrome. SO DO NOT LISTEN TO YOUR DOCTOR WHEN THEY SAY IT'S IMPOSSIBLE FOR BIRTH CONTROL TO CAUSE DIARRHEA or that it's just stress upsetting your stomach! For whatever reason, doctors assume bc has no serious side affects- no one even considers the possibility of it making a woman sick. Trust your instincts. But if you have been on BC pills for a while, then you most likely have a tummy upset so avoid dairy products. Birth control can wreak havoc on your body. I was on 3 different kinds over 9 years. During which time I had alot of medical issues. I had severe diarrhea, which was mistaken for 9 years as celiac disease. I then acquired migraines and extreme fatigue. As well as severe mood swings and extreme hunger. None of which was ever thought to be caused by the birth control. I have recently gone off it two months ago. My diarrhea has almost completely dissappeared and I can eat bread and pasta again. My migraines which I used to get at least 2 times a week have vanished completely. I am no longer starving all the time, and my husband appreciates the crazy mood swings being gone. I have so much energy now I am always cleaning and need less sleep at night. It seems I had a 9 year bad reaction to the pill and noone ever suggested that it could be. Im so glad I thought to go off it myself.

Does birth control repress your menstrual cycle?

Some types do. Most just regulate it to be on an exact 28 day cycle, and can even make your periods lighter and shorter. Progestin pills can stop your cycle entirely, and there are pills out on the market that can cut your periods down to as few as 4 per year.

What do the sugar pills in birth control do?

The sugar pills basically don't have any hormones such as progestin and ethinyl estradiol which allows you to have your period. The sugar pills are normally taken on the 4th week of your birth control cycle. You don't need to take the sugar pills as guided because either way you will have a period with or without talking the sugar pills on the 4th week. The sugar pills also keeps you on a schedule when on a birth control pill since many do not take them responsibly which may result in an unplanned pregnancy.

You can also skip the sugar pills and go right into your next pack of active pills and just have no periods. Read Malcolm Gladwell's "John Rock's Error" and that is what seasonale and lybrel are (skipping placebos)

Using protection and withdrawal method the same time can get you pregnant?

Yes, it is possible but it lowers your risk by a lot.

* Condoms can break and semen can leak though. It is important not to use two condoms at once because the extra friction between the two condoms can cause them to rip.

* Birth control pills can be ineffective if you:

# do not take the pill at the pill at the same time every night # use anti-biotics while on birth control # take other medications (including some natural supplements/vitamins) that have not been approved with your doctor while on birth control # miss a pill # are not on the pill for 30 days before having "unprotected" sex # are not on the pill for 30 days before having "unprotected" sex after switching brands of birth control * Intrauterine birth controls such as the Nuva Ring, and other IUD's can slip out of place **Remember, Birth Control DOES NOT protect against STDs. The ONLY safe sex is NO sex. If you feel sex is necessary (which it never really is), be sure to use some form of protection or KNOW for a fact what types of problems your partner may have.

When you stop using the patch how long will it be before what if your period starts?

You should put on your next patch on schedule, regardless of bleeding. If you're still bleeding when that date comes, put it on anyway. If you stop bleeding before that date, you'll still be protected.

What do you do if you accidentally threw away your birth control pills a week early and is it ok to start your new pack this Sunday as you normally would or do you need to wait until your next cycle?

Start your new pack immediately. You can start the next pack the minute you realize the rest of your pill pack has been skipped. You probably won't get a period until the inert pills at the end of the next pack--that's normal. If you skip an entire month of pills, you will be left unprotected. If you start the next pack a week late, like your questions implies, use a backup method for a week.

Does biotin interfere with birth control pills?

Biotin is a water-soluble B-vitamin that helps metabolize amino acids and fats and is imperative to cell growth. It is believed that Biotin does not interfere with birth control pills.

You are on birth control and have white clumpy discharge?

If it is clumpy but soft and without a smell and occurs after your period it should be normal, but if it is thick and in particles are cheese like, then you either having a fungal or bacterial infection. See a doctor of advice on medication.

When is it safe to have intercourse?

If what you mean by "safe" is avoiding pregnancy, the only safe time is long after menopause is complete. Seriously. Those dangerous fertile periods vary from woman to woman, and even in one woman they vary month to month. It's also variable how long a man's sperm will live and lurk waiting for an egg to appear, depending on how hospitable the woman's chemistry is to the little swimmers. There's an old joke: "What do you call couples who practice the rhythm method?" Answer: "Parents."

If you take your birth control pills perfectly every time but still get your period on the hormone pills only and never on the sugar pills could something be wrong?

You probably need a different kind of pill. The one you are taking isn't the correct hormone dosage for you. Talk to your doctor and they will help you get the right one for your body. I'd say to use a back up method of birth control in the meantime, just to be safe.

Are there any free games where you can get pregnant and give birth?

Yes there's the sims 3 and you can get it on your ipod touch or iphone as an app for just £2.99. Or you can go to HMV in town (Liverpool) and get it as a computer game for £40.00 (I'd save up and go to HMV because an ipod touch is £189.99 and you can't do that much on the ipod with it).

Thx 4 reading hope u get it!

What are the chances of getting pregnant using the pull out method?

Hope this helps, its from yahoo's health page..

"It provides protection from pregnancy within 2 weeks of the initial injection. Blood levels of DMPA remain high for about 4 weeks, then stabilize at a lower level.

You will probably be given a pregnancy test before your first injection because one study showed that DMPA users who were either pregnant at the time of their first shot or who got pregnant while using the drug were more likely to have low birth weight babies.

It's important that you get your shots regularly. However, if you are going on an extended vacation and need one before 3 months are up, it will do no harm. You also have a grace period of about 4 weeks after the next shot is due. It is inadvisable to push the limit though, because some women have gotten pregnant by extending their three-month intervals"

What if you haven't started birth control in months then started taking it again and then stopped for a week can you still be at high risk of pregnancy if you had unprotected sex?

You need to wait longer than one week before having unprotected sex. You cannot have unprotected sex until you have been on BCP for one complete cycle - once you receive your period after starting BCP, then you can have unprotected sex.

Does co-codamol affect the birth control pill?

Hello there. As Codeine is a inflammatory and also from the Paracetamol family, its unlikelly it will affect the effectiveness of the birth control pills you are taking. But if you are in doubt, then use a condom for the next seven days to prevent pregnancy.

Can the birth control patch delay your period?

Yes, it is possible to skip or delay your period while using birth control pills. I know women who have used this method. However, you should consult your physician before trying it on your own. There are many different types of pills (brands, strengths, levels of hormones, different cycle lenghths, e.g. 21 day vs. 28 day, etc.) and I don't know if the method would work for everyone or every type of pill.

It's easy to call your doctor, clinic or local Planned Parenthood office to make it worth taking any unnecessary risks with your contraceptives.

AnswerSkipping menstrual cycles has been proven to be safe. A woman's body does not feel "cheated" when it does not menstrate, as some believe. The blood you would normally shed during menstruation does not "build up" when you attempt to skip a cycle using birth control.

If you are attempting to skip a cycle, you must be on a monophasic birth control pill. Monophasic pills contain the same amount of hormones in each active pill. Triphasic pills such as Ortho Tri-Cyclen contain a varying amount of hormones in each active pill. The purpose of this is to mimic a woman's natural menstrual cycle. Most women who attempt to use triphasic pills to skip cycles will have a period regardless.

If you are taking a monophasic pill correctly, the lining of your uterus does not build up, thus there is nothing to shed. The bleeding a woman experiences while taking the inactive pills of a monophasic pack is simply what we call rebound or breakthrough bleeding from the absence of hormones. Uterine lining must build up for a true menstrual period to occur.

Please discuss your options with your physician. You may not be on the correct type of pill to be attempting missed cycles.

What medication's are not safe to take with birth control?

Antibiotics inhibit the effectiveness of it.
The main ones are antibiotics, but you should check with the person prescribing the medicine as to how it will affect them. If you are prescribed medicine when your parents are there and they don't know you're taking birth control pills then you should phone the clinic who prescribed the birth control and ask them what the risks are. They'll be able to tell you.
antibiotics are a very common one that affects birth control. there might be others.
When taking birth control, women should steer clear of smoking and penicillin derived antibiotics.
antibiotics. always consult your doctor first.
The effects of birth control may be reduced for a number of reasons. You should consult with your doctor for a more complete list or an assessment of your individual risks. Here are basic factors that may reduce the effects of birth control:

1. Inconsistent use. If you do not take your pill at the same time (+/- about 4 hours is fine) or miss any days (you may miss ONE day, but must take your birth control at the exact same time every other day of the month), your risk of pregnancy increases.

2. Grapefruits. Although this may sound strange, grapefruits actually contain properties that can lower the effectiveness of birth control.

3. Antibiotics. Although a number of recent studies show that most (if not all) antibiotics actually have no effect on the efficiency of birth control, it is still advisable to use a backup method during a course of antibiotics and for at least 3 days afterwards.

What are the advantages of using a condom?

they aren't!

the best and effective form of birth control is the depo shot.

you don't have to worry about taking a pill at the same time everyday, all you have to do is go in and get a shot and after 24 hours you are protected from pregnancy. then about 13 weeks later you get another shot.

the shot is effective for 3 months, then you are due for another one.

the best thing about the shot vs. the pill is you have 4 or less periods a year and it is more reliable. it is true that depo is highly effective and easy to use, but it can potentially cause side effects. unfortunately, if u do experience these side effects, you're stuck- u can't just stop taking it as u could the pill- u have to wait three months for the effects to wear off. so investigate the pros and cons carefully before u commit to having this medicine in your body for three months.
The efficacy of the birth control pill is dependent on your age, the following are key issues surrounding its use:

1. Depo provera shots should not be taken by women who may want to get pregnant in the next two years since it can affect ovulation for several months after it has been discontinued.

2. The birth control pill may not be the best method for older women, due to clotting risks.

3. Birth control pill may not work for women who tend to forget pills or who have trouble swallowing pills.

4. The IUD may not be a good choice for women who have religious beliefs preventing this type of birth control.

Please note that there is no "best" method of birth control. It is a personal choice, and the answer may depend upon a number of factors.

Is abstinence better then birth control?

It depends what you mean by "better", but abstinence is the only 100% effective way to avoid pregnancy and sexually transmitted infections/diseases.

While on birth control pills should your partner still use condoms?

Definetly, condoms protect from disease and infection. That is if you've had him checked. But, even then still do it two heads are always better than one...... ask him if he can afford 150000 $ over 18 years, minimal

If you have been off birth control for almost 2 months should you be able to get pregnant easily?

== == That is not unusual, in fact quite common that after you stop taking birth control, it can take several months to get pregnant. This is certainly nothing to worry about If after 6-8 or even 12 months, consult a physician to determine if you can get pregnant.

You used the pull out method during ovulation What are the chances you could be pregnant?

well the pull out method, there is still a chance because semen doesnt just come out during orgasm, its leaks out during intercourse. by pulling out all you are doing is reducing the amount of semen that will get inside. and even a very small amount is still enough for pregnancy. but the pill if used properly, may prevent it. but it has to be taken everyday to avoid any chance at getting pregnant. just follow the instructions. *** a good way to avoid pregnancy is using a condom and using the pill.***
