How do you reset a 1994 BMW oil service light?
To reset the oil service light open your hood and find your diagnostic connector. Its a big black plastic round short piece on the drivers side of the motor to the front. Unscrew the cap and look inside. In the middle will be a hole that looks like PAC man that mates with the middle piece sticking down from the cap. Pac Man is surrounded by two rings of holes, some with female connector plugs and some without. If you don't see the "PAC man" hole you have the wrong plug or your car is equipped with something non stock. Jump the hole two spaces directly in front of PAC man's mouth to the hole directly below PAC man as you look at him from the driver's side. It is recommended to use a fused jumper. Turn the key to the on position ( not start ) and watch the service light indicator at the bottom of your instrument cluster. After 3 or 4 seconds it should turn off. When it does, turn your key to the off position immediately. Remove the jumper and put the cap back on the connector. Start your vehicle and the light should be reset.
