The Boy Scout Troop, Cub Scout Pack, Venturing Crew, and Sea Scout Boat are the main units of organization of the BSA. They are often subdivided into smaller groups of youths (patrols and dens etc.) but those smaller units do not have their own governing bodies.

The Troop is sponsored by an organization with an interest in youth such as a church, school, or civic goup (such as Knights of Columbus, American Legion, Elks Club and others). The sponsor appoints adults to leadership roles such as Scoutmaster and committee chair. It is governed by a Troop committe. The number of Scouts in the Troop varies from just a few to upwards of 50-100 with about 20 being a fairly typical number.

What do you do when you are camping with cub scouts?

That depends on the Pack.

Cub Scout camping is usually "car camping" which means you drive the car up to the camp site and do not need to pack light. You can bring camp stoves, foam or air cushions, coolers, tables and chairs etc.

Most packs will have some activities planned as a pack and usually there are activities planned with the den (often working on badges). There may be some down time for the parent or scout so bringing some things to occupy your time would be wise.

The activities available wil vary by site and may include trails to hike or bike, fishing, boating, swimming etc.
