Billions of neurons communicate with each other via trillions of pathways called 'synapses'. The pattern of electrical activity that this creates is what gives rise to everything we do and think and how we feel. However, we understand but a handful of these patterns and how they relate to various states of consciousness and mental tasks . The biggest challenge neuroscientists face is decoding what these patterns mean and then inventing ways of manipulating them for therapeutic purposes.

The brain controls the human body.

I don't know if the answer above is supposed to be sarcastic, or just someone who doesn't know and wanted to add something anyway. That is an incredibly useless answer.

In part, the brain controls movement of all body parts, temperature, heart beat, interprets feeling and pain, breathing, when you sleep it regulates breathing and controls the heart, and does much more, but since I'm not a doctor, that is about all I know.

No! MDMA does not put holes in your brain. It is highly illogical to say such nonsense. The "Holes" in the brain were spots in the brain that are inactive. MDMA causes very little brain damage if at all if taken in moderation...

The sense of smell can bypass the thalamus, it is only secondarily sent through it when you are analyzing or comparing it to other smells.

You don't want to forget your past as there are so many valuable experiences good or bad that you have learned from that have come to shape your being. I realize you may want to forget one certain incident but instead of thinking you would like to forget it think of the situation and what you may have learned from it - what I mean is some things happen for a reason and others we create on our own, what could you take from the situation and apply or change for your future as to not repeat whatever it is that you would like to forget or maybe a behaviour you learnt maybe useful. Things are only as bad as we let them be and if you try to look at things from different angles - as they say if you get lemons make lemonade.

Well, I learned in Science Class that your brain is used to the color, which the only way to see the color, is how the light reflects on it. If you try an experiment, like this.

Put on a shirt, (Black is good) with some lettering. (white is good too!)

Look in the mirror, and turn off the lights. After a few seconds, the light comes back becasue your brain is telling you that it is that color. Weird huh??

Alcohol affects the entire brain. It depresses all functions in it- from the logic centers to the parts of the brain that control vital functions when someone drinks too much. That is why a person who drinks too much passes out, and why people die from alcohol poisoning

The middle part of the brain is called the brainstem. It contains the pons, the medulla and the midbrain. The other parts of the brain are the cerebellum and the cerebrum.

Smoking anything will have an impact on the brain. Oxygen is reduced when inhaled with the smoke. The multiple chemical componds inhaled is as bad as any other smoking habit. Basically starving the brian of oxygen is dangerous and has been proven timelessly. If you add this to any strains of Cannabis and you have an adiction issue waiting to happen.

Well I'm not 100% sure on the fluids, but I would say water is the best thing to drink. Also, you should take fish oil pills to help your heart and brain. It is not anything that needs prescription. You can buy it at local grocery stores. Anyone can take it. Hope this helps a little!!

if you are talking diametar metres the heart will be bigger but it really depends on what heart your talking about for example a mouses heart is smaller than a humans lung but a elephants heart is bigger than a humans lung. ants have very small lungs so if you put a human lung in a mouse it would most probaly die and vice versa as the mouse heart would never be a ble to keep a human alive. i think both the human heart and the human lung are ingenious things that should be eaten only on im a celebrity get me out of here. by chris lane
