Since he's been taking care of his ex for ten years there isn't anyway you couldn't have known this so why did you marry him? If she is ill or they have children together and he's got a backbone then he should be caring for his children, but that's all! If you don't like it then sit down and start communicating with him. If you are in your 20's, you have other things to be doing, such as getting your own education, providing a stable life for yourself, growing through other experiences. My guess is that the dramas with him are soaking up any time and energy you have to manage your "stuff." In the end, this is the most kind thing you can do for him to have any hopes for the future, since rescuing does not pay off. Let him suffer the consequences.
