first let me ask you to clarify. do you mean it reads low temp or that it reads lower then what the banks and the temp outside is???? I have the same problem on my 1998 Regal. The temperature gauge reads ~ 20 degrees lower than actual. Occasionally it will read correct, but not for long. I can't find any information as to where the sensor is, or the supporting cabling that will help me trobleshoot the problem. JJD Not compared to Banks, but actual temperature readings outside. For example, if it is 95 degrees outside, the regal says ~72 degrees. It used to read withing about 1 degree to the actual outside temp, but now it is at least 20 degrees lower. I have a 99 Buick Park Avenue Ultra, and my temperature gage was doing the same thing the dealer replaced the sensor, located on the left front of the radiator. They charged me $80.00, if I had known where and what to look for I could have done it for a lot less.

It's behind the dashboard about halfway above the floor, almost against the firewall.

It's a nasty job to do if replacement is necessary.

The exterior temperature sensor on a Buick Regal can be replaced by first unplugging the battery, then reaching up under the dash below the radio and unplugging the old one. Then, trace the path of the wire to the front driver's side and unscrew the mounts for the old sensor. Replace with the new sensor and run the wires through the old path to the plug in under the dash. Re-connect the battery.

There is a problem with the blend door for the passenger's climate control. The blend door diverts air through the heater box to the correct system ( ac or heat). It may by a vacuum supply problem ( the climate system uses vacuum to operate the blend doors). It may also be a problem with the control head in the dashboard ( the thing with the knobs for heat/ac). The blend door may also be blocked by debris and can not operate properly ( such as a mouse nest, leaves, acorns, etc ). EDIT: The AC and Heat system DO NOT use a vacume system on the newer Regals (from 1997 on). If your car is this new, they have a known problem with the blend door motor, and can be repaired with a new part from the dealer. The part is fairly pricey thou.

This is a common problem on regals .There are resistors on a circuit board behind the instrument cluster that are loose or burnt out. Getting to them is tricky , there was or is a video on youtube describing the procedure , the resistors are about $1 at radio shack for a 5 pack. They must be soldered to the circuit board . I had to replace 7 resistors that were loose. The original resistors were very small and poorly soldered. My gear indicator lights and odometer numbers did not light .

Iam an ASE Certified mechanic and i had the same problem with my 99 century and i wasnt able to drive at night. After hours of testing wires we came to the problem. Its the turn signal switch assembly which is tied into the hazard switch on top of the steering column. Its all one piece with a 3 foot long wiring harness attached to it running down the bottom of the steering column and going underneath the dash. The least expensive place i found the part and had it in stock was my local Auto Zone and still the part was $200.00.

P.S. This is a common problem on these GM cars. Mine did the same thing to the tee! The lights will go on and off then they just went off for good and this solved the problem.

I owned a 1994 Buick Regal Grand Sport for years. It came with a 3800 engine and got over 30 mpg interstate driving. Never lacked power and didn't downshift on hills the way the previous 1988 Regal I kept 5 years did. The 1988 Regal average a little over 28 mpg interstate driving with a smaller engine. Both cars were two door models. General Motors made a grave mistake when they quit making these kind of cars. These cars had superior power, great handling and better gas mileage than most foreign cars. They were roomy inside. If GM still build these kind of cars they would be the only makes that I would buy and drive. Jerry Tingle

In most cases, NO. There are exceptions to the rule on Asian cars. Nissans really hate fuel injection cleaners. But on American cars, if you use a bottle of fuel injection cleaner, and your O2 sensor goes bad, its not because of the FI cleaner. Its because the sensor has gone bad, or something else is wrong with the car. If your O2 sensor is bad, I recomend doing a tune up, plugs, wires, PCV valve, air filter, oil change, and the O2 sensor.

Open the trunk and there should be several small bolts or wing nuts that can be removed. Then the entire center housing can be removed, twist the old bulbs out and replace.
