Mice do best with a mixture of grains and seeds, with about 11% protein from things like nuts, sunflower seeds, and pumpkin seeds. This is my mix:

2 cups spelt cereal flakes

1 cup buckwheat groats

1 cup yellow millet

1/2 cup sunflower seeds

1/2 cup pumpkin seeds

8-ounce box dried cranberries (sometimes)

They are primarily vegetarians, living on seeds, nuts, fruits, fungi, lichens, buds, mushrooms, roots, pine cones, leaves, twigs and bark. They do not normally eat meat. However, if faced with hunger they have been known to eat bird eggs, snakes and insects.

so i am more than likely to say no squirrels do not eat grasshoppers

How many times does a newborn mouse eat?

Easy either the kitten will die of starvation, if in the wild, or a human can take the kitten and nurture it, and maybe if the kitten is in the wild and can find another cat who has given birth that will allow it to eat it's milk, it can survive.

When can you put the male hamster back with the baby hamsters?

Of course, the mother hamster is there, but the male hamster, or any others, should be kept away for up to several weeks. It is likely they would upset the mother or even attack the newborns. Do not handle the babies because if you touch them, they will pick up your scent and the mother may ignore or even eat them (!).

No, if you clean their cage regularly. Most of Syrian hamsters will use one corner in their cage as a toilet, which makes cleaning easier. Female Syrian hamsters will often smell more when they are in heat.

Is a cage or a tank better for a pet mouse?

It depends on what u put in there. If u put just put some newspapers and a water bowl and a food bowl, your basicly kissin' ur mouse goodbye. U know what a mouse needs, a spinning wheel for it to run on, proper foor and water, etc.

AnswerA mouse won't care which you choose. However, a tank has plastic seal at the inside corners which the mouse will likely chew off. It won't effect the tank or make it fall apart, but the plastic isn't good for the mouse. Answeri use tanks as it keeps in the heat and youngters cannot slip through the bars and a tank is easier 2 clean and if u want the bedding deep it wont spill through the bars the only bad point i no of is that u cannot attach a water bottle 2 the side. AnswerRodents can be prone to respitory illnesses brought on by drafts, however, poor circulation of air can also cause problems so use your better judgment.. if you have a drafty house then a tank is choice provided you have some way to circulate air into and out of the tank. they have some nice cage like tank attachments that you can buy at just about any pet store.. this allows for air to circulate but not become overwelming...

i find that tanks are way beter so much easier to clean and what that other person said about them chewing the plastic and the cage falling apart they are wrong my mice have been in the same cage for about 7 months and its still good as just a few chew marks so i would have to say choose a tank and put news paper on the bottem or saw dust

AnswerA tank! I had two pet mice and they bit the bars on a mouse wire cage until they were weak and slipped through. The results was one got into the wild, the other one died horribly.

How do you potty train your hamster?

It depends on the hamster you have's personality. Most you can probably train, others can learn by themselves (i.e. my hamster gets out a lot and from that he learned how to climb on stuff to get back in after doing it several times) Hamsters will do some pretty interesting things without your help

Do mice eat wheat?

No, grapes, raisins and other many foods are not good for mice at all. Be very careful what you give to a mouse, and I wouldn't recommend going to Wiki Answers for advice on things like this because people sometimes answer without knowing the facts.

Check verified expert websites such as http://www.rspca.org.uk/allaboutanimals/pets/rodents/mice/diet and never take risks when feeding your mice.

Please look after your little pets, thank you.

Can humans get the kind of mites that your pet hamster have?

No you cannot catch mites from a hamster. Mites are not zoophytic, meaning they cannot be transferred from animals to humans. They may make you itchy for a short while though if you have just touched an animal with a particularly bad case of mites, but they will die off completely in about an hour or so.

How do you keep a baby mouse alive?

Listlesness, shallow breathing, no appitite. Your best to take your pet to the vets for a proper diagnoses.

When a mouse hits around 23 days of age it is considered an adult mouse. Mice that are lethargic, underweight, or not eating may be dying. A common illness for mice is malocclusion which means its teeth are over grown. If you grasp the mouse by the base of the tail by wrapping your pinky finger around it, then using your thumb and index finger to grasp the scruff of the neck tightly enough to have control but not tight enough so it can't breath. You can flip the mouse over and check the teeth. The teeth should be somewhat close together and the same length, the bottom teeth should be slightly shorter then the top teeth. If the teeth are odd lengths you may need to get a pair of scissors to trim them, the same goes if for example the top teeth are stuck into the bottom teeth. I wish I could send a picture. After trimming the teeth (to a mouse this is like cutting fingernails off a person) offer food that has been soaked in water to make it soft along with regular hard food. To avoid malocclusion get hard eitable items from a pet store so the mouse can trim their teeth as desired. Mice also like to build nest so adding a dry paper towel it can tear up and make a nest is a great environmental enrichment as well as empty toliet paper holders. Make sure the mouse has access to food at all times mice rarely become overweight, a fresh water supply should be provided with a water bottle that is always full, allow a small area of air at the top of the bottle to prevent an airlock seal.

I couldn't tell. The baby mouse my girlfriend and I tried to take care of this past week just died today. We had held him and had been feeding him just a half hour before, then, when my girlfriend went to get him, he was dead. It was really sad, we both cried for about an hour...=(

My rats have eaten cooked corn cob without any problems, though I only give it to them as a rare treat, since corn cob is less nutritious than a lot of other things they could eat. They seem to enjoy it, though.

When hamster gets out it's cage it will either walk around and explore, or run around. Depending on what type of hamster you have.
