When should you use CD or Flash drive?

A CD is useful if you are going to play music in an older stereo or car. Most will have a CD player. Some newer CD players will play CD's with MP3 compressed audio, extending the play time by as much as 90%. A flash drive is useful if you want to hold more music (most flash drives hold much more than 1 Gigabyte (1024MB) of info, CD's top out at 800MB. Flash drives can also hold any type of compressed audio or higher-than-CD quality audio (higher than 16 bit, 44.1kHz).

Flash drives also have no moving parts, and are not as susceptible to extreme temperatures, scratching or moisture.

What factors other than storage capacity would you consider when choosing between a DVD drive and a CD drive?

Who invented nitroglycerin?

Nitroglycerine/nitroglycerin was invented in 1847 by chemist Ascanio Sobrero, who was working under TJ Pelouze at the University of Turin. He called it pyroglycerine (possibly b/c "pyro" is latin for "fire") and pleaded against its use in several letters and articles.

What is CD quality?

CD quality refers to the amount of detail saved to an audio file that would be typical of what you would find on a CD. This is measured in how often a change in the sound wave is detected, known as the sample rate, and to what level of detail this change is measured to, known as the bit depth.

Sample rate is measured in kilo-hertz (kHz), or thousand samples per second. For CDs this 44.1kHz.

Bit depth is measured in bits, which is the number of binary digets each sample uses. For CDs this is 16bit.

Can you add a hidden track before the first track of a CD using Toast Titanium?

No, Toast created Red Book CD audio discs that conform to the established standards, and cannot create a track before track 1. You can create a 'hidden' track by sticking extra content at the end of the last track with a suitable gap. Just insert a 5 or 10-second gap at the end of the last standard track and then the extra audio.

What types of files can you put on a CD-R?

You can put any type of file on a CD-R, as long as it is within the storage capacity of the disc (700 MB or under).
