Is there an error on the stamp sheet made in the honor of Christa McAuliffe?

Yes, in 1986 the Republique Centrafricaine issued a set of stamps honoring the Challenger astronauts. In fact, there are two errors in this set. Christa's name is written "McAulife" and Ronald McNair is spelt "MacNair". I have a block of 6 unused Christa stamps which were purchased directly from a post office in the RCA. Who is the pioneer of the modern American space program who caused to the US from Germany after World War 2?

Dr. Werhner Von Braun was a key scientist on the V1/V2 rocket programs for the Nazis in WWII. When it became apparent that the Russians were getting close to their location, he and his team made the decision to surrender to the Allies, knowing that their knowledge would be used for good in the west as opposed to if it fell into Russian hands. Many other rocket scientists were in fact captured by the Russians, but Von Braun's team surrendered to the Allies, and he and others eventually came to the United States.

It was Von Braun who was the chief architect of successfully getting the U.S. Space Program off the ground. He succeeded in designing the rockets that took the Mercury, Gemini astronauts into space, and the Saturn V rocket that took us to the Moon.

What source did Reagan get slip the surly bonds of earth to touch the face of God?

John Gillespie Mcgee

Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of Earth

And danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings;

Sunward I've climbed and joined the tumbling mirth of sun-split clouds, and done a hundred things

You have not dreamed of wheeled and soared and swung

High in the sunlit silence. Hov'ring there,

I've chased the shouting wind along, and flung

My eager craft through footless falls of air…

Up, up the long, delirious, burning blue

I've topped the wind-swept heights with easy grace

Where never lark, nor e'er eagle flew-

And, while with silent lifting mind I've trod

The high, untrespassed sanctity of space,

Put out my hand and touched the face of God.
