How do you remove the governor of a 1977 Chevy Camaro?
To the best of my knowledge there isn't one. If you are driving with your foot on the floor(at the track of course!) and the car won't go any faster, that's probably all the engine can do. If you are talking about the governor in the transmission, it is located just ahead of the speedometer cable on the driver side. You will have to work the round cover out a little at a time going around the flange of the cover. Once the cover is removed, the governor is the winged device inside the bore. Pull on it allowing it to twist on the way out. To replace, coat the gear in fluid and slide back in. Strange, but the perfect install tool for the cover is the screw on top to an oxygen bottle. The diameter is perfect with the flange of the cover. A couple good taps from a large hammer will seat the cover without destroying the cover. Hope this is what you were looking for.

The 6 bolt holes in the back of the block are tapped 3/8-16. Make sure the bolts are long enough to have 1/2" of threads in the block. Minimum grade 5 bolts, grade 8 highly recommended.
The tapped holes in the bell housing are usually 1/2-13, but watch for 7/16-14 which occurs in rare occasions.

Use AC/Delco spark plugs. The wire choices are numerous. Ask for OEM type plug wires unless you are racing this vehicle. In that case ask for Accel performance plug wires.
this could be many things , however if you are getting adequate fuel, no codes and good spark, try the fuel filter first, then the Mas Air Flow sensor and idle control valve if present, then trace all electrical..including the temp sending unit, oil pressure sending unit and wiring to the electric pump in the tank. and the pump itself.
If nothing is found I would strongly recommend having a competent mechanic or dealer do a diagnostic.
