I think it depends on what the make and model of vehicle is because oil pan/filter capacity can vary. For my 2004 Grand Prix GTP witch also has a 3800 series engine it hold 4.5 quarts. My advice is to either call the dealer or start with 4 quarts run car for about a minute than let sit for about a minute and check again. If it is low than add at a rate of about 1/4 quart per time.

What are the symptoms of a faulty fuel pressure regulator?

* Black soot on spark plugs * Black smoke coming from tail pipe * Rough running * Fuel in oil, smell the oil dipstick * Stalling * Raw gasoline coming out of tail pipe

To verify: remove the vacuum hose from the FPR while the vehicle is turned off, if there is fuel in it the FPR is bad. If you turn the key to the 'ON' position DO NOT TURN OVER and fuel comes out of the vacuum hose the FPR is bad. It is possible for the fuel pump regulator to be bad without fuel coming out of the vacuum hose. You can also test the fuel pressure.

These are the things that I have found in my research. I am not a mechanic, there may be other symptoms of which I am not aware. Equally these tests may also point in another direction at times and there may be other ways to test that I am not aware of. Always consult with your mechanic and keep a fire extinguisher handy when ever you are dealing with gasoline or other flamable liquids. FYI:

The regulator attaches to end of fuel rail. If you have an OBD II Vehicle, you should be seeing a CEL if anything goes wrong with fuel system. Fuel Injectors:

It seems older cars have fuel injector issues much of the time due to the technology not being so great on single pintle injectors and years of carbon build-up.

Also, fuel may leak through regulator into vacuum line that is attached. These rarely go bad, but you just never know. My first guess would be to disconnect fuel injectors and listen to engine performance. If you disconnect one and it has no difference on idle, you have found a dead injector and/or plugged injector. You can also do an Ohms test if you have access to the injector pins. You are looking for an INFINITE value of resistance, meaning the injector is NOT FIRING.

Where is the traction control sensor located on a 2003 Chevy impala?

We just replaced one on a 2001 Impala. It is located in the hub assembly. But, the sensor wasn't the problem. It was a wiring problem. You need to have the codes checked (it requires a Tech II code reader-The ones at O'reilly won't read it). This will tell you which wheel is causing the problem. The sensors can be checked with an ohm meter. On a 2001 the ohms should read between 850-1350 ohms. CAUTION, do NOT put the ohm meter on the wiring harness side of th plug going up to the computer on the car (possible to do some expensive damage)! The sensor is in the hub side after it is unplugged! The sensor should also put out Approximately 100 milli volts while rotating the wheel by hand. GM has some wiring repair kits for this problem.

Does the impala 2002 engine have gasket problems?

The GM 3100 and/or 3400 series engines have had a major problem with intake manifold gaskets for years. GM incorporated a hard plastic gasket with rubbers on it to seal the manifold. While these gaskets worked ok for awhile, as temperature differences in your engine takes place, i.e. running the car, shutting the car off, etc., the rubber material seperates from the plastic and the gasket fails. Normally you will not experience an external leak. Check your engine oil - if it looks like chocolate milk or if there is alot of milky buildup on the bottom side of your oil filler cap then you probably have antifreeze mixing with your engine oil. It is best to not drive your vehicle until you get this situation fixed. Also note that about 1 out of 10 vehicles that exhibit this condition may also need to have the cylinder head gaskets replaced - this is normally the case when the intake manifold is removed and the original gaskets do not look too bad.

What is the front wheel bearing torque for 1965 Chevy Impala?

Wheel bearing nuts don't have a torque specification as the viscosity of the lubricant

varies enough so the torque number would be nonsense...

Practice has been to snug up the covering nut as tight as possible by standard foot long wrench, so the wheel fails to turn. Then back off 1/8 to 1/4 turn, allowing the wheel to

spin or turn with light pressure..

hope this help / rtd
