I grew up on 133rd and Avenue "O" in the early 60's till the 80's. I walked to my friends house on Commercial Avenue almost 5 times a week and hung out on Baltimore avenue many times. When we were about 12, we would go into Kluckers Drug Store on the southwest corner of 134th and Baltimore to buy 5 cent cigars. They were suppose to be for our grandpa. In an early 2005 [I can't remember exactly what month]issue of Chicago magazine there is an article detailing all the old "grand" Chicago families and what they are up to now. It's kinda interesting. Be assured that they are all still rich. You need to better define "old families." There are many, many, descendants of early Chicagoans, but not all bear the last name of their ancestors. Most of them are NOT rich. How far back do you want to go, and why? The Chicago Genealogical Society used to have a "pioneers" roster list I think -- people who trace ancestors back before a certain date in Chicago.

Long-time Denver TV morning anchor Angie Austin was let go by KWGN-Channel 2 last week.

After 10 years, the station chose not to renew Austin's contract. Her last day on the air was Wednesday.

Austin was surprised by the station's decision, which ran counter to what she had been told. "When my contract expired in a few months ago, My news director (Ed Kosowski) told me he was offering me a morning anchor position, so I knew I was being renewed. When he met with me last week and told me it was my last day at the station.. to say I was surprised would be an understatement," Austin said via email. "Do I wish it would have been handled differently? Yes. Am I bitter or angry? No. It's just business."

Austin was not allowed to say goodbye to her followers but did write a Facebook message: "I'm not the first news person not to be renewed!! I'm approximately number 1,579,010... I feel blessed to have worked for over a decade with such a great bunch of co-workers."

With three young kids, ages two, four and six, Austin said the change in early-morning hours may be "a blessing in disguise."

Station management did not respond to requests for comment.
