Can you bread a chihuahua with a Great Dane?

You could not do female Chihuahua male Great Dane, the size of the puppies would kill the Chihuahua in a matter of weeks. You would have to do a female Great Dane and a male Chihuahua by artificial insemination. I'm not 100% sure, but it should be possible by all means. And there is no way of determining what offspring will look like.

How many in a litter of teacup chihuahuas?

The kennel club recognizes only two types of chihuahua - the smooth coat and the long coat. So with this in mind you can expect a chihuahua bitch to have on average of 2-3 pups, though there are many who have just one and many who have 6-7. Bear in mind that exceptionally small chihuahua bitches who are bred may have a hard time during delivery and may even need a c-section.

Note: The terms 'tea-cup chihuahua' or 'deer type chihuahua' are actually just sales gimics from people trying to sell their puppies for higher prices. Deer types do not conform to the chihuahua standards of either the AKC or the KC, but none the less make lovely pets. Teacups, as they are sometimes referred, are just normal chihuahuas who are very small, either because they are runts or because they have been bred that way. This can be damaging to the breed as they are already pushing it when it comes to size and health problems.

When do chihuahuas first come into heat?

Dogs don't technically have "periods." They go into oestrus or heat, and often have a bloody vaginal discharge during this time, but this is not quite the same thing as menstruation. For one thing, it occurs before, rather than after, ovulation; ovulation in dogs occurs at the end of oestrus.

Dogs usually go into heat about twice a year starting between 6 and 24 months of age. Unlike some other species, domestic dogs have no particular "mating season" during which this happens; it can be at any time of year, though generally 6-7 months from the last occurence.

What kind of animal is a Chihuahua?

A Chihuahua is one of the most popular dog breeds in the United States. Over the past decade the Chihuahua has surpassed the lab and the poodle dog breeds and became the most popular type of dog to own. This is because the Chihuahua has been used to promote products such as Taco Bell and has starred in movies such as Legally Blonde.

Chihuahuas are the smallest out of all the dog breeds, and are popular among adults. Since the Chihuahua is the smallest type of dog breed in the world, they are not sold to children because the children are often rough with the dogs and can break or hurt the Chihuahua dog easy. There are hundreds of dog breeds sold in the United States, but the Chihuahua dog breed is one of the harder ones to find, simply because each Chihuahua dog only gives birth to 2 to 3 puppies at one time.

Out of all the dog breeds in the United States, the Chihuahua is one of the most beautiful. Most Chihuahua dogs feature a beautiful tan or black coat. Chihuahua dogs have a distinct and unique set of ears. The Chihuahua’s ears differ than other dog breeds as they stand up straight and are extremely large. A Chihuahua’s ears are one of the most distinct and noticeable features on the dog.

The Chihuahua is an extremely friendly and playful type of dog. They love to play with balls, and run around the yard with their owners and friends. Chihuahuas love to play chase and love to play with a ball. Chihuahua puppies also love to lay out in the sun with their owners. Because this dog breed is so small the dogs can get cold quickly so if you live in a colder climate it is not recommended that you choose a Chihuahua. There are many other dog breeds that would be better suited for a cold environment as Chihuahuas are very small and have no body fat.

Chihuahua’s are a fun type of dog to own but require a special place to live in and a special type of owner that can take care of their small and fragile bodies.

Is a teacup chihuahua the smallest breed of dog?

They have been bred over time to be that way. Although they are named for a city in Mexico, they are believed to have originated in China where it was once fashionable to breed dwarf sized plants and animals

EDIT: I've just read this article: http://www.livescience.com/7268-study-reveals-dogs-small.html

so basically, there's a gene/ genetic sequence in dog's brains near a gland that is like (or is) the pituitary gland. One or more mutations suppresses it, not producing as much of the hormone that makes you grow; preventing Labrador-sized Chihuahuas! (Rottweilers also have this, but other genetic factors likely make them large) Please read the article, it covers it better than I do.

What is the age for a toy chihuahua to be fertile?

at the first heat cycle which is at about 7 months. It is very unsafe to breed a dog in it first heat. also know that most chihuahuas need c-sections that costs 1000's of dollars at an emergency vet. Besides the fact that there are 1000's of homeless chihuahuas killed every year because there are more chis than homes- so who would want to make more. Look up low cost and free clinics to get your dog fixed. She will make a better pet and not leave blood all over your home 2 months out of the year. they smaller the chi the more unsafe it is to breed it. you cannot breed her to a dog larger than her. How hard can chihuahuas bite?

Train them properly. You have to keep him on the ground so they don't get scared. If they aren't picked up and carried everywhere they won't be afraid and they won't bite. I know it is hard but trust me they will happier.

How big will a teacup chihuahua get?

Chihuahua breeders often use terms like miniature, teacup, tiny toy, apple headed, or deer headed, to describe puppies. These terms are not recognized by the breed standards and may be misleading.

Both British and American breed standards state that a Chihuahua must not weigh more than six pounds. However, the British standard also states that a weight of two to four pounds is preferred and that if two dogs are equally good in type, the smaller is preferred. "Teacup" is the term is usually used to define a chihuahua which weighs less than the breed standard.

The smallest Chihuahuas have more in the way of health problems, than their slightly larger cousins. Being the smallest dog in the world comes with its fair share of health problems including regulating their blood sugar (hypoglycemia), dehydration, and respiratory problems. They will need extra care and special attention especially as puppies and should always be checked out by a licensed veterinarian for thyroid and liver problems.

If you are looking for a teacup chihuahua don't always listen the breeder or the seller. Many times Chihuahua sellers will claim to have puppies for sale. The fact is, no one can tell whether a puppy less than 10 weeks old will be a teacup size or not. Checking to see if the puppies parents are teacup wont work either. It is nearly impossible to determine if a chihuahua is going to be a teacup based on the size of their parents.
