Do cocker spaniels shed?

Yes. They have a undercoat that can mat if not brushed out regularly. It does shed but shedding is minimal if you brush your dog twice a week. Usually shedding accrues in season changes, stressful times, after giving birth, or when the dog is put in a warmer environment then used to. In general they shed a lot less than a Shepard but more than a Cockapoo mix.

Signs of pregnancy for cocker spaniel?

Early signs a dog (doesn't matter which breed) may be pregnant are:

  • Decreased appetite is usually one of the earliest signs that your female dog might be pregnant. Not all females go through this dog version of "morning sickness", but a small percentage will eat less during the first few weeks of gestation, usually making up for it later in the pregnancy.
  • A sudden decrease in activity can indicate that your dog is pregnant. Just like some women, canines may also experience feelings of exhaustion as their hormone levels change to support embryo production.
  • Nipple growth is a good indicator that your dog's's body is going through pregnancy changes. The nipples of an unbred female are usually quite small, and the area immediately beneath them will feel flat. However, once a pregnancy is in progress, breast material will develop beneath the nipples, which will also increase slightly in preparation for eventual milk production.
  • Behavioral changes may also be noticed, with either an increase in affectionate behavior or an expressed desire to be left alone.

As the pregnancy progresses, you will notice further changes.

  • An increase in appetite is usually noted about three to four weeks into the pregnancy and is especially noticeable if your female slacked off her food after her heat cycle ended.
  • Weight gain should be noticeable by one month into the pregnancy. Your female dog's abdomen will thicken, and gentle examination of the belly will reveal a firm, rather than fat feeling to the area.

What temperature is too cold for a cocker spaniel dog?

I believe that you should keep your cocker spaniel in temperature's no lower than 63 degrees and no higher than 89 degrees. If you plan on going on vacations I suggest you take them with you, and please keep them with you at all times they have a tendency to wander off. If you also go on vacation and you can't bring your cocker spaniel along then make sure to get a self watering kit for the dog if your going to be gone long and if your going to be gone and hour or two leave them a full bowl. And if your going shopping leave him in the bathroom a smaller room for smaller accidents spots. If you leave him in there there's no way he can accidentally escape while you are bringing groceries in. Also you can lower your chances of stepping in dog feces or dog urine. If its in the bathroom its much faster to clean up. Also while he/she's in there leave their water bowl in there with them. But if you have multiple dogs keep them at a friends house or neighbor or family's house. Either way they should never be alone it would practically kill them to be lonely and no human contact for weeks. I hope you have been given enough information and more then enough. If anyone else has anything I left out please leave a different answer or comment. Thank you

What is the best type of food to feed my cocker spaniel wet or dry?

I have had dogs all my life. I currently have three. It has been my experience that dry food is the better choice. However, mix the dry food with some water. The reason for this is as follows. When a dog eats dry food only, the food will expand within the animals stomach and especially when followed by water which could facilitate or promote some stomach problems. When you mix the dry food with water before the dog eats, the food has already expanded before the dog eats. Thus, it is easier for the dog to digest. I have always fed my dogs this way, and have always had healthy, happy, and energetic dogs.
