How does the government track pandemic influenza?
During the pandemic of 2009 governments of the world mandated monitoring and reporting by medical entities whenever a case was identified. These results were in turn reported to the World Health Organization (WHO) for tracking and tally. In the US, a monitoring system was already loosely in place in each state for all communicable disease monitoring and reporting for public safety. During the pandemic, this was tightened and every state was required to monitor and report weekly after the medical entities reported to them. These results were reported to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and to WHO. Other governments of the world had their own specific requirements, and those who were members of WHO all also reported to that world organization for compilation of the numbers. This reporting was cumbersome and time consuming for medical entities and states and once the pandemic H1N1 influenza was understood and a vaccine was developed, the strenuous reporting requirements were backed down to the pre-pandemic system. No counts are currently being kept of this type of flu separately from the reporting of all "flu-like illnesses" in the monitoring system from before the pandemic.
On the lighter and science fiction side:
They have microchips inserted into all of our brains at birth which are able to keep a track of illness.
Yes alcoholics can catch a cold. No one is 100% immune to the common cold.
Alcohol is not an INTERNAL disinfectant. In fact, they are more susceptible to colds due to poor nutrition.
Who created the high dose flu shot?
The manufacturer of the high dose flu vaccine that is approved for use in the US is Sanofi Pasteur, Inc. They make the Fluzone High-Dose formulation of influenza vaccine.
Do the ingredients in a flu shot leave your body after time?
Sadly no, Whats in all vaccinations even flu shots is very frightening and shocking. Flu shots are not meant to help your immunity system but rather to make you more sick and to keep you striving for more medicine which doctors want. Doctors, all they want is your money and nothing more, nothing less. They put animal phecies and other junk in flu shots to merely make the sickness you have even worse. My advice, go to a natural medicines store and get MMS, and goldenseal and start eating vegetables and fruits with dark colors.
Is Swine Flu going to kill more people in 2010?
It is expected that one of the types of flu that will be prevalent in the 2010-2011 flu season in the Northern Hemisphere and US is H1N1/09 Pandemic Swine Flu again/still. It is still infecting people who have not had the vaccination. H1N1/09 will be among the viruses that the 2010 seasonal flu shot will protect against.
There is still risk for those who get this type of flu in 2010 to die from the infection, but, hopefully, more people will get the vaccination and protect themselves and those they come in contact with against it. Those at high risk of complications and death from the flu should be vaccinated now as we go into the new flu season or it may well be the cause of death of more people in 2010.
See the related question below about the high risk groups.
What is feeling cold and tired a symptom of?
The symptoms of "feeling cold" or being "tired" are non-specific symptoms that could relate to several illnesses-- or could simply be a passing event that goes away with rest. Some people who chronically feel cold and tired have anemia or a low red blood cell count. If your symptoms persist, see your physician.
NOTE: No one should rely on medical information from the Internet. Only a physician can diagnose your symptoms.
What is in a vaccine that makes a vaccine effective?
A vaccine is basically made of a small amount of the disease-causing organism, either inert/inactive/in pieces or alive but attenuated (weakened so it can not make you sick), which is mixed in a liquid with ingredients for purity, for preservation, and for sterile injection (for shots).
How vaccines work:
They trigger an immune response so our body can make defenses against the infectious organism, so we are at the ready with antibodies if we are exposed to the full strength organism in the wild again.
Antibodies, small molecules that attach to the virus or bacterium infecting you, act by either tagging a microbe or an infected cell for attack by other parts of the immune system, or by neutralizing its target directly (for example, by blocking a part of a microbe that is essential for its invasion and survival).
How does dengue fever affect the brain?
Typically, it enters the blood stream via the bite of an infected mosquito (Aedes aegypti), begins replicating in target organs, infects white blood cells and lympathic tissues and can affect every part of the body's system from the brain (encephalitis) to the body's nervous system.
Dengue fever is an acute viral illness characterized by:
Fever, often with sudden onset;
Severe headache, often described as retro-ocular;
Myalgias and arthralgias that can be very severe;
Nausea and vomiting;
A rash that may present at different stages of the illness, and whose appearance can be variable-it may be maculopapular, petechial, or erythematous. Patients may also report other symptoms, such as itching and aberrations in the sense of taste, particularly a metallic taste. In addition, there have been reports of severe depression after the acute phase of the illness.
Some cases may present with or develop encephalitic or encephalopathic signs and symptoms, such as:
Decreased level of consciousness-including lethargy, confusion, and coma;
Seizures;
Nuchal rigidity; and
Paresis.
Did you have an adverse reaction to the H1N1 vaccine?
Yes. I filed a report and have been tracked by John Hopkins Medical following a rash. My daughter and son also have experienced rashes since vaccination and my husband, who didn't get the shot, has not. Not sure if it is related but it is being tracked.
How do you get rid of a cold within 24 hours?
You can't. Your body needs to take time to produce the necessary antibodies, which is how your immune system fights a common cold. That can take from 7 - 10 days for a typical common cold virus. You can treat the symptoms and begin to feel better sooner than that time frame, but each individual will take different times for the development of antibodies and this can vary depending on the specific cold virus involved.
Can you take cold medicine with imipramine?
THEORETICALLY, Yes. Yes you can.
You can Take a combination of 2 things, if you choose to.
Now, "Is it medically wise to do so?" Is a whole separate question.
And the answer to that one depends on how "Good" you believe your life is going.
They can vary depending on what strains are expected to be in circulation during the flu season each year in each region. This is most often spoken in terms of hemispheres, Eastern, Western, Northern and Southern.
In the US they begin looking at what strains of influenza viruses are causing outbreaks in the Eastern Hemisphere in Asia just as the flu season is ending in the US in the spring of the Western Hemisphere. Through tracking by epidemiologists with the World Health Organization and various health departments of governments of individual countries (such as the CDC in the US), the types of flu in circulation during flu season on the other side of the world are analyzed.
They also monitor the flu season in the Southern Hemisphere, and by the time it is late summer in the US, the scientists have picked the three most prominent influenza viruses that are and have been spreading that year, are expected to be arriving in the season, and for which vaccines will be made for use in the US by seasonal flu shot time before the virus moves with the cooler weather into North America. The reverse happens as the Southern Hemisphere watches to see what is going to be in their next seasonal vaccine based on what they see causing outbreaks on the other side of the world as the season swings back to them.
When a diabetic patient has a minor illness such as a cold or flu what should they do?
Minor infections can be much more serious for those with diabetes and harder to treat. If the diabetes is uncomplicated and blood sugars are usually well controlled, minor infections can throw the blood sugar control out of balance. So blood glucose monitoring would be important so you can report to your medical professional if the glucose levels rise to beyond normal ranges. If your blood sugars are usually not well controlled, then it would be good to notify your physician at the first signs of infection. Keep fluid balances and calories appropriate, if nausea and vomiting or diarrhea causes dehydration, there are also serious consequences for diabetics, especially if the kidney function is impacted by the diabetes. Keep alert to all signs and symptoms and be sure to report fever, persistent coughing, and other signs of a potential secondary infection.

Is it safe to mix Strattera and dxm based cough medicines?
Yes, although dxm will linger in your system longer because your body won't be able to metabolize the dxm as good as without Strattera.
Also i have waken up the past week really hot and sweaty. I never had that happen. Please let me know what you think Thanks!
