Yes, the United States and its allies did technically "contain" communism, but the fall of the Soviet Union was less of the United States' work and more the fault of the Soviets themselves. The Kremlin's attempted cover-up of the Chernobyl nuclear disaster and other missteps in their economic policy cost the country billions, and eventually led to the demise of the once powerful nation and the introduction of the Commonwealth of Independent States in 1991.

It likely would not continue to function very long. US citizens hold their freedoms dear and are of a peculiarly rebellious sort. US citizens tend to rebel against authority even when it is not so overbearing and controlling as in a communist country such as China or North Korea. Of course, being a democratic country, it is highly unlikely that a true communist group could take control outside of a coup.

It was when the US government over dramatised the Bolshevik revolution because they did not like communism and so made anti-communist propaganda, causing people to fear 'Communism' like a disease. pretty stupid really.

Because they feared it would spread and eventually reach them and change their system. the Americans had a capitalist system vs. a communist one and they both compete and are complete opposites.

Actually, there is no such thing as social class in a communist society. The idea is that everyone is the same, everyone is equal, no one is higher than another, and is all overlooked by the government. I guess you could say the politicians are more important, but then again, that would cancel out the whole idea of communism.

This is what i read in my history classs :) Countries like North Korea, Vietnam, Cuba and China were opressed with foreign intrests in there countries or something like that, and other eastern European countries were forced into communism by Russia...

The U.S. constitution says that international treaties signed on to by the U.S.A are to be treated as the supreme laws of the land. In this sense the anti-fascist covenants which the U.S. is signed on to are being ignored and avoided and the international laws broken as well as the national laws of the U.S.A. Especially where it states that it is the law that if the American Government elected by the people no longer serves the needs of the peoples, (my add plants, animals air land and water) then it is the duty of the American people to alter (reform impeach) or abolish it (revolution) and replace it with one that does serve the needs of the people. This is amplified by Pres. Abraham Lincoln in his government for, by and of the people shall not perish from the earth speech at Gettysburg. Lincoln, Marx, and Engels were on letter exchanging basis before , during and after the war, except that a Southern Slaver killed Lincoln before the reconstruction could be fully done. Something both Marx and Engels were anxious to take part in planning, as Engels was a capitalist that exchaned capital for cotton for his textile mill in England. Marx and Engels was thoroughly opposed in every way to chattel slavery preferring a living wage policy of free labour.

That when the conditions of private ownership of the monopolies began to restrict the relations between the classes, that there would arise a condition in which the old relations no longer suited the new needs for liberation from all forms of exploitation, and that made them the most revolutionary of all classes on the planet and the class that would arise to power and overthow all encumbrances to the new socialist society, the workers state which instrument that would end exploitation of man by man and renew and restore the matriarchy which will return the material harmony and joy to the species that has been missing since the Roman Slaveholders conquest of it around 42AD and onwards. This act of the revolution will be the end of class rule and the liberation of all peoples. The new science of Ecology will also end exploitation of air, land, water, plants animals and peoples.

Communism was an ideology and proposed style of government devised by Karl Marx in The Communist Manifesto. Unfortunately, when certain radicals adopted this ideology, oppressive and violent states were created.

well, all private property goes to the government i think. (this is because communist believe everyone should be equal). but REALLY rich people can get some land i think, but the gov usually get annoyed about this. farmers land is taken away from them and they farm in a gov run farm with a BUNCH of other farmers. they are all treated really badly. and i don't get it,communism is meant to make everyone equal.... so why are farmers treated really badly and why do the gov get everything? communism isn't a political party for equality, its a political party that wants everything to themselves, so they take it away from others. hope i helped u out! :)

Completely unrelated. Communism is an economic form. Terrorism has quite a few definitions, but none of them are economic. I would say that terrorism is a tactical doctrine. Communism is a threat to the parasite ruling classes under capitalism, as it will mean a world without rulers or armies or poverty. It will make the world far more stable than capitalism, where the profit motive and short-term gains are behind global heating.

Well in America and most of the world people feared the idea of a "Common Man" a person who works together without gaining money etc.. the entire idea of communism was completely against what most people followed so they were afraid of what they didn't know. Also in Russia when the communists took control, the US and Great Britain both sent troops to Russia to fight the communists (Russian Civil War) but the communists ended up taking control, this move by the west made most Soviets angry and untrusting of the West.

Communism is an extreme form of socialism and permits no private property.
