What problems can occur when hardware software and operating systmes are not compatible?

To be honest when you have these conflicts you pretty much end up with a non-functional, barely functional computer. I recently built a computer and learned quite a bit about these conflicts. At the start insure that whatever you buy is designed to be compatible with everything in your system. Make sure that you have the latest drivers for your hardware and that the OS is supported by the software you pick. The kind of problems you'll run into is a for example. If a program does not work on your OS it either will not show up at all and probably will not even be able to install. If the Hardware is incompatible in any way the computer will not even see it, and if it does it will not be able to make it work. When building a system most of your time should be spent doing research on your components making sure that they are all compatible.

The fastest and most expensive computer?

The fastest and most expensive computer would have to be a homemade computer. Not a brand you can buy all ready to go. Some homemade computers can cost a total of over $10,000 when fully modded.

The fastest and most expensive computers are always the ones called Supercomputers. These currently compute in the petaFLOP rate and usually cost from $10,000,000 to $100,000,000. Some are commercially available, some are custom built to a contract.

Were the expansion slots called PCI slots on early PCs?

They were known as an "expansion bus". So-called because the expansion cards with edge connectors, plugged directy into the bus board. (Today we would call it a motherboard) There were 3 bus standards: Industry Standard Architecture (ISA) Micro Channel Architecture (MCA) Extended Industry Standard (EISA) I hope that helps. How to determine the make and model with only a serial number?

The modern 17 digit serial numbers are arranged in a specific sequence with the first three characters identifying the manufacturer. The next 6 digits will identify the model, trim level and engine. The following letter or number is the year, then the production plant. The last 6 digits are unique to that vehicle. Any dealer of that brand of vehicle could tell you what each digit means. If the vehicle was produced before the 17 digit system, you have to find out how that specific manufacturer arranged their serial numbers.

How many kilobits in a kilobyte?

First off, its kilobytes not kilabits but I completley understand what you said. There are 1000 kilobytes in a meg (or megabyte)

Here Is a Table that I created:

1000 Bytes = 1 Kilobyte

1000 Kilobytes = 1 Megabyte

1000 Megabytes = 1 Gigabyte

1000 Gigabytes = 1 Terabyte

1000 Terabytes = 1 Petabyte

1000 Petabytes = 1 Exabyte

1000 Exabytes = 1 Zettabyte

1000 Zettabyte = 1 Zottabyte

1000 Zottabyte = 1 Brontobyte

Hope that helps!

PS: Kilo means 1000

Is platter a input device or output device?

An interesting question. Typically, devices fall into a category of 'input' or 'output'. A monitor, for example, would universally be regarded as an output device. A keyboard, an input device. A platter, which I'm assuming is a hard drive platter and not a delicious halal meal, falls neatly into both catgeories. It is an input device when data is being read from it, and an output device where data is being read to it.

How PDAs can be used to store and access information?

A data storage memory area, and an input/output device such as a keyboard and a touchscreen or a liquid crystal display (LCD) screen on which symbols, text or icons are displayed and, into which signals can be input and detected thereby providing a two way communications capability by which information can be stored in an retrieved from memory that is part of the personal digital assistant computer. Personal digital assistants can be used to store, display, and/or manipulate various personal information.

What is the difference between n router and g router?

They are two different protocols. Most (probably all) N routers and networks cards can also do G and probably B protocol. Anything labeled as G will only do G and in amlost all cases B.

N is faster than G (but you'd never notice the speed difference if you are just connecting to the internet, they are both way faster than a home internet connection.

N should, technically, have a bit longer range than G, but in real-life most people don't see a great deal of difference here.

Does putting your laptop in hibernation affect your battery?

No, it doesnt. Hibernation is the "turned off" state, but with the current tasks saved to the hard disk so they can be resumed. I have personally proven this by taking out the battery, completely rebuilding the laptop (for cleaning purposes) and rebuilding it all (took 2 days).

Difference between Pentium D and core 2 duo?

A P4 processor is fast, but the Pentium D is much faster. The D stands for Dual Core. This means that they have two on die processor cores instead of just one, as the Pentium 4 does. Two processors also makes it better for "demanding" applications.

The Pentium D is better if you have a motherboard that will utilize the technology. As stated the Pentium D is Duel core. This is Intel's way of creating the closest environment of a true duel processor. The HT is for Hyper-Threading which acts like a zipper and allows several applications to process at the same time. The Pentium D will really make a difference when used with the new 64 bit operating system.

However, HT (Hyper-threading) P4, does have emulated Dual Core processing. In short, the processor makes the computer think its runing a dual core. The Pentium 4 also has a couple different levels, so if you are trying to make a comparison, make sure that you look carefully.

Although neither can match the power of an Athalon or an AMD x2 processor. If you are buying, get something with 64 bit processing. WAY faster and better for games and high graphic systems.

Do all modern monitors have inbuilt spekers?

No they do not. Speakers are provided with your screen. Monitors control speed fan, memory, network, ect. Older versions of computers have seperate speaker system (in which you buy one).
