How do you fix unresponsive laptop keys?
Sadly, The answer I am going to give is far from definite... I have the same issue right now with our desktop PC. First lets look at the facts:
1) Are you using a Desktop PC or Laptop?
If its a desktop PC, You may have the advantage of just buying a new keyboard - Laptops are a different matter.
2) Are there any "Bleeps" from the Tower?
If no, Its more than likely a broken wire, Just buy a new one... They are cheap enough... If the tower IS making a beep a second... You have bigger issues.
3) Are you using a PS2 Keyboard?
Yes? Then like me you may have to now invest in a USB keyboard - Not ideal! This is a common issue with Acer Desktop PC's in my experience. 6 Months after we bought our 3rd Acer, The PS2 Mouse port failed for the THIRD TIME! 6 years on the Keyboard port now appears to have done the same... Its not worth the expense to try and replace a motherboard for such a simple fault.
Hope that helps...

Why was the QWERTY keyboard developed?
Christopher Latham Scholes invented the qwerty keyboard in 1875.
It is a common misconception that the QWERTY keyboard was invented to make typing harder, in order to prevent expert typists from breaking the internals of the "Type-Writer" (as they were first marketed in the 19th century).
However, the reality is that common letter pairings are separated (such as TH, IE etc), in order to decrease the likelihood of a clash of the type bars in these early typewriters.
Other formats have been tried (AZERTY and Dvorak to name two) which each have their own benefits. In fact, the Dvorak format increases the number of words which can be typed using just the home row (the row where your fingers naturally lay at rest, if you are a touch typist) to 400, from the approximate 100 words which a standard QWERTY keyboard can produce.
However, in the 1950's independent tests showed that irrespective of the keyboard layout used, an expert touch typist will usually produce around 100 words per minute.
Christopher Sholes was an American mechanical engineer, born on February 14, 1819 in Mooresburg, Pennsylvania, and died on February 17, 1890 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He invented the first practical modern typewriter in 1866, with the financial and technical support of his business partners Samuel Soule and Carlos Glidden. Five years, dozens of experiments, and two patents later, Sholes and his associates produced an improved model similar to today's typewriters. The Sholes typewriter had a type-bar system and the universal keyboard was the machine's novelty, however, the keys jammed easily.

How can a make your super slow laptop Toshiba computer quick and fast?
Try installing a different operating system for it based on ur PC specs (and vista can slow some pcs down) try Linux distros or an older version of Windows.
Another answer:
If you take off your startup programs, it may help. On Windows XP go to the start button, run and type in msconfig. At the top of the window there are tabs choose the tab that says start-up. Uncheck what you want. Unchecking everything will not harm your computer. Click apply then ok. It will tell you to reboot your computer when it reboots a window will appear that states "You are using selective start-up" there is a box in the middle of the window that says "Do not show this message again" click that.
More input:
Sometimes the real reason why a computer dramatically slows down is because its hard drive begins to die. Buy a new disk, clone your old one onto it, and enjoy your "new" laptop again. If you are upgrading, you might as well upgrade to a 7200RPM disk. The laptop will be faster than new. However, if it doesn't seem faster after changing the hard drive, it could be because Windows has defaulted to PIO mode instead of UDMA mode. You'd need a utility to delete that registry entry which is slowing down your PC.
