What is the difference between quantum computer and supercomputer?

Super computers are made for extensive and intense calculations. They are built to be able to solve humanly impossible mathematical problems in mere seconds.

N.S.A has a super computer called the "Thinking Machine". It is used to break codes. It can do in a few seconds what a Home PC will take tens of thousands of years to calculate.

Regular computers are also made for calculation, but not to the extent that super computers are designed for. Most regular computers involve word processing, calculated excel documents, and financial software. The more intensive calculations would come with graphic processing as physics require a bit of muscle, and that is why we add-on graphic cards.

What is the difference between 8 bit and 16 bit ina computer?

the number of bits describing the architecture of a CPU system define its maximum "word size", or how many bits it can process at one time. In an 8-bit system, a standard integer can hold a value of up to +127, and an unsigned integer can hold a value up to +255. In a 16-bit system, unsigned integers can hold values up to 2^16 - 1, or 65,535.

When speaking of 8-bit and 16-bit color, for 8-bit color you can either mean the palette size (256 colors, each of which can be assigned any color) where only 256 unique colors can be used at a time. The other meaning of 8-bit color is a different 256-color system (called 8-bit truecolor) where you define the color by attributing 3 bits to red, 3 to green, and 2 to blue. This system is less effective than the 8-bit palette system.

16-bit color (also called high-color or 16-bit truecolor) allows a total of 65,536 unique colors to be displayed, anywhere on screen at any time, by assigning 5 bits to the red and blue channels, and 6 bits to the green channel (our eyes are more sensitive to green).

What did Douglas Englebart invented in the 1960's that became handy today?

Of the things that Dr. Engelbart brought us, the computer mouse is probably one of the handiest. He got some help on that from Bill English, by the way. Wikipedia has more information, and a link is provided.

What are the uses of system software?

System software is used to control and manage system resources (e.g. i/o device hardware, memory hardware, processor time), making them available to user software via standard interfaces that provide a common set of abstractions of those system resources. These abstractions make it easier for programmers to write both user software and driver software for unique i/o devices that may someday be connected to the computer and the driver software that knows how to control them must be installed as an addition to the system software so that it can also control and manage the new i/o device.

What is the difference between a taskbar and a menu bar?

A status bar is at the bottom of the programs and displays your programs status.

The task bar is where your start button and time plus running programs are.

What component must be installed in every empty memory module?

Assuming you mean in every "empty memory slot/socket."

Clarification
The memory modules/chips/cards are the items installed into the computer, so an "empty memory module" makes no sense.

Answer
If a memory slot is vacant, nothing needs doing, except in some very old PC-class systems, where memory modules were installed in pairs.

What is input design and output design in system design?

Input design

Input facilities the entry of data into the computer system. Input design involves the selection of the best strategy for getting data into the computer system at the right time and as accurately as possible. This is because the most difficult aspect of input design in accuracy .The use of well-defined documents can encourage users to record data accurately without omission.

For example, if a customer's telephone number is a needed input data, the slaes order form should have a specific line that is clearly labeled "customer telephone number". Having several lines labeled "customer information" would be less effective. This is because sometimes only the name and address would be filled in leaving out the telephone number.

Input design must capture all the data that the system needs, without introducing any errors. Input errors can be greatly reduced when inputting directly by using appropriate forms for data capture and well designed computer screen layout.

How much is 145.60 MB in GB?

145.60 megabytes = 0.1421875 gigabytes

Can you plug USB 2.0 A male device in USB 3.0 A female socket?

Yes. Its the same shape for both, just that the 3.0 device will not swap data as fast as if it were plugged into a a compatable 3.0 USB port. In other words, the USB 3.0 device will run as if were a 2.0 USB connection with no problem.

Where would you find the CPU in a computer?

The processor (CPU) and memory (RAM) can be found on the motherboard of your PC.

The CPU is under the CPU Cooler, which in most cases looks like a fan over an aluminum or copper "box" on your motherboard. You really cant miss it. Be careful if you try to remove it, handling it carelessly can cause permanent damage to your motherboard/CPU.

The memory/RAM is usually sitting beside the CPU, the look like strips which measure about 4 inches with little chips attached to the side. Again be sure to be static-free when you handle any PC component.

The storage device is quite easy to find. It's in the front of the PC Cabinet. Usually screwed in position.

Why would you use CC in emails?

Cc stands for Carbon copy and means you can send an exact copy of the email you are sending to someone else you only need to use it if you wish to send a copy of that email to another person. If you send a copy using Cc the person you are originally sending the email to will know who you sent a copy to.

What are internal speakers?

Internal speakers are speakers that are mounted inside electronic items such as computers or radios. Unlike an iPod, which requires headphones plugged in, equipment with internal speakers do not require headphones or other speakers to be plugged in.

What are the basic reasons why netiquette is necessary?

Netiquette guidelines are there to help you on the internet or when sending emails. The reason we use it is to make it easier on us. Always make sure you start with a good greeting.

Web pages are stored on what which is a computer that stores and sends requested web pages?

Servers are used to store webpages. A server does not necessarily need to be a "special computer", either. I have a computer at home that is always on (used as a TIVO box). This same computer provides a webpage. The trick is you "need" a static IP to run a web page - something you typically won't get without a T1 (minimum). You can use a service like dyndns to provide a pointer to your computer to get around this.

A static IP is simply an IP that will not change. If you have a webpage, you want people to be able to get to it; if your IP is constantly subject to change, there's no guaruntee anyone can find you.

How many bytes is 16GB?

16GB is approximately 16,000 MB (Mega Bytes) or exactly (16 X 1024) or 16384MB.

What does spam stand for in computer terms?

It doesn't stand for anything. It was named after the tinned brand of pork and ham called Spam, featured in a Monty Python sketch where it was included in every meal. People will sometimes turn it into an acronym, such as 'S=Stupid P=Pointless A=Annoying M=Messages (SPAM= Stupid Pointless Annoying Messages)', but this is a 'backronym' - the word was coined first as a real word and an acronym form invented afterwards.

What is an example of Raw Data is Converted into Information?

A list of date of births is raw data. If you looked through that list you could do things like find how many people were born in April or who is the oldest or who was born between the 10th and 20th of the month and so on. All of those things are information that can be got from the data. All that you can see is a list of dates of births. Nowhere in that list does it explicity say something like "There were 14 people born in April", but you could find that information by looking through the data. So data can be used to get information.
