Just follow the directions that come with the hardware. Every piece of hardware I have added in the last 20 years had instructions on how to install the hardware. Be sure to read them COMPLETELy before starting to install anything.

First understand that any company that has a mainframe is pretty big--an insurance company, a carmaker, someone like that. They will use it for several things:

It's got the company's databases on it. One of the databases might be a list of customers: it will list the customers and usually all the things they've ordered over a certain time period. You can do this with a PC, but mainframe databases can get much larger and they've got more features.

It's set up to share resources. All the company's printers will be hooked to it. When you send a print job to it, you can tell it to print only to one printer, or to any printer that's available and capable of taking the job.

These days corporate e-mail will go into the mainframe.

And sometimes you run programs on mainframes, but that was mostly done back before PCs got so prevalent. When all you had was a "dumb terminal" like an IBM 3278, the mainframe had to store plus process your data; today a lot of processing is done out on the PC and completed data is sent back to the big iron.

Assuming you have at least one free memory bus on your motherboard, all you have to do is buy a stick of memory that is compatible with your computer, and plug it in (Be sure to be free of any static electricity when handling any computer hardware!). To do this read your computers info pamphlet or if you don't have it any more look it up online with your exact computer model.

If you don't have a free memory bus then you can upgrade from your current memory stick size by removing the memory sticks and replacing them with new ones that are of higher value (EX: you have two sticks of 1gig ram replace with two sticks of 2gig ram)

If no, or few, applications are left up and running a computer will not consume much power when left on. Computers in general consume less power then a single light bulb when running. At idle they may go down to as little as 30 watts depending on age, speed and configuration of the computer.

If you are needing IT software but don't want to pay for there are a few different sites you can check out. The first site is IT Shareware. IT Shareware carries software from shareware to games to MP3s. Another excellent site is CNet. CNet offers both freeware and software you must pay for, but searching for the freeware is pretty simple.

I have a compaq laptop to, I forgot the password to it and it only has one user account thing. I haven't yet found out how to fix it but if I do I'll let you know:) and if u do will you please let me know also? Thanks..

You don't mention if this is the operating system user account, or boot up BIOS.

The operating system may require re-installing. You can recover data by removing the hard drive and putting it in a USB caddy then copy the data to another computer, before re-installing Op Sys.

You need to reset the BIOS. Depending on the model you will find this inside one of the covers underneath. The popular place is near, or underneath the memory chips. You will see two small gold pads. These contacts need to be connected for a couple of seconds, using tweezer tips or a wire link. Some models sometimes have a jumper link with three contacts. Move the link to the other position for a couple of seconds.

Failing that, find the back up Lithium battery and short the contacts briefly. (Not recommended as it may damage the battery, but is worth a try.)

If successful, the laptop will resort to default settings and prompt for the time and date to be re-entered. It will also have forgotten the password and allow free access.

If you are talking about the OSD of the monitor itself then you use your navigation buttons on your monitor to exit the OSD itself.

If you're talking about the toolbar at the bottom of Windows then right click on it and check unlock and then you can click on the top of it and drag it down, to bring it back up just point to the little part sticking out and then drag it back up.


Or you can press F11 while you're in your web browser to get rid of it (Note* this only works in web browsers that I'm aware of.) To view the toolbar while in Fullscreen simply point your cursor to where the toolbar should be and it'll pop up. Simply press F11 to restore it back to normal.
