I just did the flight from Detroit to Aruba and back. On the way to Aruba it was exactly 5 hours, on the way back it was about 5.5. There was a lot of fog coming into Detroit. Try to get a direct flight so you don't have to deal with layovers. Also, Aruba is on "island time", so don't expect to have your departure to be completely smooth.

No. the Germans circled Curacao with U-boats. The Island played an important role with fuel. They produced jet fuel for The Americans. The Germans however wanted to bomb the refinery. They didn't get close.
