I'm sure it all depends on what she was taking it for. I take the 500mg pill twice a day for epilepsy. I have no problems with urine but with the medication making me tired and drowsy, I have a hard time standing still in a perfect position and can't stay still on 1 foot in more than 3 to 5 seconds. Whenever I'm standing still on both legs I get feelings like I'm rocking back and forth as if I can't stay perfectly still due to the pill making me tired and drowsy.

I don't have insurance so I have to pay everything out of pocket, but with that being said...most dr's offices give discounts to patients that do have to pay out of pocket. There is no safe dose of Depakote (or of any other antipsychotic). These medications cause brain damage, and there is a serious risk of Tardive Diskinesia (a permanent movement disorder similar to Parkinsons) at any dose. Something like 20% of people who take antipsychotics eventually end up with this disorder, and it never goes away - they are crippled for life.

(*opinion follows*) It is immoral to give antipsychotics to children under 18. They are too young to weigh the risks and benefits and make an informed decision, and by the time they are old enough it may already be too late. Frankly, I think any psychiatrist who prescribes these drugs to kids should have their license revoked. I'm not exactly sure from a medical standpoint if it is considered "ok" but i do take depakote 500mg once a day prescribed for mood stabilization and i have smoked marijuana 5 or so times while on it. i have not seen any side effects to my health or my mood. hope this helps.

ive been smoking and taking depakote 1500mg daily for 14 years and i have less seisures when im smoking! drinking is much worse on your liver and u dont want that. i havent seemed to see any conflictions between the meds except ambitionlessness and maybe over metabolizing your depakote. check for sure but it cant be two severe im still kickin! good luck
