What does low depakote level means?
Depakote is normally taken for seizures. So if your depakote level is low that means you need more in your system to keep you from having a seizure. It is also used for bi-polar disorder.
Plenty of exercise, good food and rest. However, you should discuss this with your physician before stopping your medication. Discontinuing Depakote abruptly can create severe problems. You might consider some counseling, as well.
Why is Depakote taken at night?
It is not always taken at night. Some people take it in the morning, or if taking a non-extended release form, twice per day. One reason it is commonly taken at bedtime is because it can cause drowsiness.
go into warmer weather.

What is the difference between depakote and Darvocet?
Depakote is an anticonvulsant used for epilepsy, migraines and (mood stabilizer) for bipolar disorder.
Darvocet is a strong painkiller which I believe is considered a narcotic.

I have taken Depakote for almost 9 years with no side affects other some sunlight sensitivity after first starting to take the drug for bipolar manic-depression treatment. Depakote can affect the liver. A blood test for checking liver function is usually recommended. Talk to your doctor or pharamacist if you have any side affect concerns.
the only skin affected side effects are: Rash, alopceia(hair loss), sensitvity to sun, and dry skin. this drug may also make you more prone to buising also according to my nursing drug handbook
It should be fine. Wellbutrin is commonly combined with ssri's like Prozac to augment them in the case of treatment resistant depression, and depakote xanax and klonopin all affect a different neurotransmitter system. I was on wellbutrin 300 mg, lexapro (an ssri) 10 mg and depakote at one point and was fine. Check with your doctor and check in a drug interaction checker like on webmd. But it seems redunant and possibley dangerous combining xanax and klonopin as they are both in the same drug class and depakote effects the same neurotransmitter system, GABA, as xanax and klonopin. Especially at the 1000mg dose it doesn't seem like the xanax and klonopin are needed. Too much GABA activity can cause brain damage and lower your blood pressure to dangerous lows possibley causing death. Again check with your doctor.
If your doctor didn't tell you, you cannot have a child wile on Depakote. Not that you can't get pregnant or anything, but rather it will cause acute problems to the baby. So knowing that, I think it might be possible to cause a miscarriage?
Depakote will make you gain weight. watch out for your white cell count in your blood ,and damage to the liver. Over all I have been on Depakote for ten years and have gained 40 pounds after having brain surgery. I want to get off of it, but tried other medications, and they sucked.
I get burning in my stomach and wish there was a way to diet , for everytime you take the pill it makes your stomach burn.
Unfortuanately Depakote augments a person's appitite, and as for the blood tests it should be monitored every 6 months.
How can someone be weened of depakote safely without risking convultions?
It depends on how long you have been on the medication and what the dose is, a Dr. who prescribed it would be able to decrease the med in appropriate amounts over a time period that would prevent convulsions,Depakote should never be stopped abruptly.
None they are pretty much the same thing with the exception of how the body absorbs them so as long as they are adjusted according to you you will be fine.
Is there a negative synergism between Depakote and Provigil?
I found there to be a negative synergism as one who was prescribed both at the same time earlier in treatment for bipolar. The provigil was used to combat side effects of drowsiness from depakote. As a recovering drug addict, i felt that the provigil made me feel extremely anxious, and would compare the feeling to the anxiety of drinking way too much caffeine or taking too much adderol or cocaine. Of course, the provigil helped me feel not drowsy, but not drowsy to the point of panic, paranoia, and anxiety. This is my personal experience and I'm also not a doctor. Discuss anything of this nature with a doctor always. Depakote has always worked for me, aside from some side effects, but the addition of the Provigil made me a little crazy. I would be careful taking it. I was also quite wary of the drug Provigil when i found out that the original use for it was too keep soldiers in Irag awake for extended periods of time!! Sounds scary.
Sometimes the combination of medications are use to try and control negative behaviors (delusions, hallucination, aggitation) in patients with dementia.
Is it harder to quit using tobacco while on the drugs Depakote and lithium?
It's not easy to quit tobacco under any circumstances. Some people claim it's more addictive than heroin.
Lithium is normally used for bipolar disorder, so I presume the Depakote is used as a mood stabilizer. You doctor may add Bupropion if he knows you are trying to stop smoking.
Bupropion is sold as Zyban as a smoking cessation drug and as Wellbutrin as a antidepressant, so it'd serve double duty for you.
However, Bupropion can cause seizures in patients inclined to epilepsy. If you are taking Depakote for epilepsy, don't even think of taking it.
Your job is tough - you must unemotionally critique whether behaviour is worse as a result of drug introduction, or due to some other external thing that is affecting behaviour, e.g. stress, family interactions, etc. Keep "scientific" notes of better and worse behaviours, and discuss frequency/intensity with your son's doctors. I know if this were me, I would immediately suspect that the new drug is destabilizing my bipolar disorder. However, since I have gained somw benefits from Seroquel, I would choose to start at a lower dose and increase only very gradually, perhaps dosing only at night time... easy as she goes. Your son's condition is unique to HIM. There will be times that an option taken is the wrong one, and that is just the facts. Make your observation, take careful notes and learn from mistakes. You will know - possibly even before your son is aware - when things are improving. Best of luck, Angela Vallee seroquel is an anti-psycotic, and can cause angry outbursts and even psychotic episodes in people who are not psychotic.
